) lit the Shabbat candles at around 16:45. She lights four candles, one for each member of our family, & said the appropriate blessings (http://www.jewfaq.org/prayer/shabbat.htm). By then, all four of us had showered & were dressed in our "nice" clothes. All the cooking was done. We were invited out for lunch yesterday so we only had to prepare for one meal, i.e. Friday dinner. The soup (apple/cabbage/onion/tomato with dumplings) was on a hotplate on a timer & the chicken was in the oven on the timer. The fridge light was turned off & the lights in the flat wre set on an automatic timer. We went off to our synagogue (as per one of my previous posts, we don't have a building & meet in a neighborhood kindergarten) for the festive Shabbat evening prayers. These include (inter alia) several Psalms (92, 93, 95, 96, 97, 98 and 99) and the hymn Lecha Dodi (see http://headcoverings-by-devorah.com/OrachChayim/LkhahDodi.html for words & audio link). Like I noted above, at our synagogue we sing and dance, alot. after prayers, it was home for the festive Shabbat dinner. I recited the blessing over the wine & the two loaves of bread (see http://www.jewfaq.org/prayer/shabbat.htm again) and then we ate. After dinner, we sang the after-meal-blessings (see http://www.christianforums.com/showthread.php?p=1255862&highlight=blessings#post1255862) & then

. (Wendy
is a SAINT! I adore that woman!). I managed to crawl out of bed a few hours later & join Wendy & Naor at the park/playground behind our flat (Wendy gets to sleep next Saturday afternoon) & then head to the short (about 20-25 minutes) afternoon prayers at the synagogue next to the park. I then joined Wendy & Naor back at the park for the about-45 minute interval until the Saturday evening prayers (even shorter, about 15 minutes). Then it was back home for havdalah, the short ceremony (including blessings over a multi-wicked candle, wine & fragrant spices; see http://www.jewfaq.org/prayer/havdalah.htm) that ushers out the Sabbath & ushers in the workweek.
What, that denominationalism has been made the God of American Christianity? No, I still see that attitude prevelant today an have had no reason to change my opinion.mle said:Has your view of denomination importance changed since then? What is your view now?
