CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Like I noted above, at our synagogue we sing and dance, alot. after prayers, it was home for the festive Shabbat dinner. Yesterday morning, we gave Da Boyz their cereal & then headed off to synagogue for the 2-3 hour (it depends on the Shabbat & on the synagogue; we never get there right at the beginning but always wander in later) morning prayers. Yesterday's scriptural readings were Exodus 13:17-17:16 and Judges 4:4-5:31.
After prayers, we headed over to friends of ours for lunch. After lunch, Yohanan went off to meeting at a friend's house of other first graders. The frriend's parents tell stories about the weekly Scripture readings, quiz them on the readings, give the little ones a treat, etc. This rotates & Wendy & I will host it soon. Wendy took Naor to a nearby playground while I crawled back home and . (Wendy 
is a SAINT! I adore that woman!). I managed to crawl out of bed a few hours later & join Wendy & Naor at the park/playground behind our flat (Wendy gets to sleep next Saturday afternoon) & then head to the short (about 20-25 minutes) afternoon prayers at the synagogue next to the park. I then joined Wendy & Naor back at the park for the about-45 minute interval until the Saturday evening prayers (even shorter, about 15 minutes). Then it was back home for havdalah, the short ceremony (including blessings over a multi-wicked candle, wine & fragrant spices; see http://www.jewfaq.org/prayer/havdalah.htm) that ushers out the Sabbath & ushers in the workweek.
Then it was giving Da Boyz dinner, getting them into pajamas & getting them ready for bed.

You all have been so inspirational to me on this friendship thread: Wisdom Seeker, DsDumpling, Lbiagm, mle, stillsmallvoice---I really love your stories of Israel and Jerusalem!!!( I have some sites and live cams of Israel and I've studied some of the birds and bird watching of the area, and also read Carl Sagan...my prayers go out to you from my childhood) I also have some relatives in California, Wisdom Seeker...
You make my day...you help my self-esteem just listening in....
I am a housekeeper..... for some very wealthy estates here on the Eastern shore of Maryland---on the Chesapeake Bay...I've known the greatest people---my fiance also helps construct some of the estates...and I get to tour the work his company does---huge entrance ways...grand stairways...I met a wonderful woman Jewish Judge and her husband who was also a judge from Philadelphia...and they were the nicest people I ever knew in my life...I never cooked for dinner parties before...but I have the greatest seafood recipes living here with people that have lived on these shores for a few generations...I make great Maryland Crabcake and Salmon recipes...but Judge (J) always gave me a glass of some of the best red wine before I started cooking---I was so nervous...(The best people in all my life....) She didn't always cook orthodox...but her daughter came down and then I cooked all orthodox food...I was surprised when she sang a hebrew song at sundown---it was so beautiful! ( I've been to three bah-mitzfahs in my childhood living in central New jersey on the Ocean ) I also work for other lawyers as well with my housekeeping profession. I never had to wear a uniform here on the Bay.
I've also been an artist and worked on scenery for a local playhouse, and part time substitute teach.
I thought of not responding, because my fiance and I are older and have no children---as most of you on this friendship thread have---but I just wanted to say my prayers and blessings are with you all...please don't feel you have to respond...I just really enjoy listening to you all...and just wanted to say Hi!

Please don't feel that this thread has a specific criteria. We're here to talk as friends...about anything in the world that you want to talk about.
As to your last comment. I could only run 2 1/2 miles Friday. Sometimes My Lupus and Fibromyalgia makes me feel really tired and weak. So I take an occasional day or two off. Good for you with the walking and biking. I only run because it gets the workout done faster. I don't know about the rest of you people....but I like to eat! If I had to adhere to some restrictive diet... I would get depressed. Exercise, aside from the endorphins (natural pain relievers and mood elivators) , allows me to eat without obsessing, or feeling guilty. ( I have a theory, which isn't scientific at all...Guilt makes you fat!)
Please come in and talk to us again. The more the merrier.

Hey everyone,
I'm just popping in again to say hi. I'm doing pretty well. I'm kind of bummed though, because I volunteered to babysit tonight (which I don't like doing much) for some kids who always seem to come with catastrophe attached. I've babysat them many times before, but something always happens. I wouldn't be so bummed about it, but David Meece is doing a concert at church tonight, before which the youth are having a pizza party. I'm going to miss it though. It's hard to babysit them anyway, but if I'm in a bad mood it would just make it worse, so I'm going to try to let it go. Please pray for me about that, it's pretty hard to do.

Sure, would be happy to pray for you Missionarypoet. Try to keep a good attitude about it. I know it's hard, but it will make all the difference in the world. Maybe you could have pizza anyway. Does your church video tape it's services? Do you think you might be able to get a tape of his performance?

I went to a Christian bat mitzvah. It was a very special time. There was the most beautiful music on the harp and guitar. The Jewish songs were so beautiful they brought tears to my eyes. The young lady made a special promise(covenant) with her Dad that she would save herself for marriage. As she promised, he sealed thier covenant with a diamond ring. I think this is a wonderful way to celebrate coming of age with family, friends and teachers.

Mom, her husband, my brother and our little family joined together this evening for a weiner roast over an open fire in our front yard tonight. It was a little cold for this yet, but we had such a good time.
This afternoon my mom, my little one and I went on a hike up the Chief(not up the cliff face, around it). It was a really hard hike. The steps went up and up and on and on. We had to climb up rocks and over slippery stairs. My ma insisted that she carry the little one. We only made it a quarter of the way up. That is okay because we wil go further next time. We want to keep going until we can make it to the summit.
