  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi everyone! I'm not really new to the site, but I tend to lurk more than post. So maybe this will be a good way to open up? :)

Anyway, my name is Sarah. I'm 24 years old, have been married 4 and a half years. My husband will turn 26 this month. He's in the US Army. We have two cats and a fish. I've been a Christian for a little over a year. I'm currently taking a course in medical transcription and hope to be done with it by the end of summer. Well, that's everything I can think of for now! :)

That's okay kiwichhristian, I wrote this thread and don't come here much either. :D I think it's because I do better in a conversation that has a topic or a direction. ;)

Is anyone going to see "Van Helsing"? I'm going to see it with my family as part of my Mother's Day present.

What is everyone doing for their Mother this weekend? Are any of you Mother's yourselves?

Hello Wisdom Seeker!!

My husband is trying to make a reservations at the steak house where my mother-in-law lives. This is our first Mother's Day that all three of us (my sister-in-law, mother-in-law and me) get the chance to celebrate.

[font=Palatino, Times, serif]You have known a mother's love
and tender care, and You will hear, while for our mothers most dear, we offer this Mother's Day prayer.
Protect the lives, we pray, of those who have given us the gift of life
.May our mothers know from day to day the deepening glow of joy that comes from Your presence.
We cannot pay our debts for all the love that we have received; but, You, Lord, will not forget their due reward. Bless our mothers both in earth and heaven.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
AMEN

Hi all!

Well, it's bright and not-so-early (about 09:55) on a hot Sunday morning here in the Jerusalem suburb of Maaleh Adumim. Da Boyz (Yohanan, who is 7.5, and Naor, who is 3.5) are fast asleep. There is no school in Israel today (yes, Sunday is a school/workday here) on account of the Lag B'Omer holyday (see http://www.jewfaq.org/holidayb.htm and http://www.ou.org/chagim/lagbaomer/default.htm, & http://tinyurl.com/37npj for the article & photo from today's Jerusalem Post) & Da Boyz were up until 01:00 with the traditional Lag B'Omer bonfire. I'm working a later shift today while DW (who only works a 1/2-day gets her time in now).

Hi to all the newbies (i.e. bonniea84, sarahbug, Holly & kiwichristian)!

Ds, I just picked up that copy of Daniel on Thursday but haven't had time to get started on it yet. I'll keep you posted.

Sarahbug, where does your husband serve? I'm a medic in the Israel Defense Force reserves & do 3-5 weeks of active duty every year. The last few years we've been down in the Jordan Valley.

Is anyone going to see "Van Helsing"?

When it gets here, I'd like to see it. Has anyone read the original Dracula by Bram Stoker? I reread it last year. It may have been written over 100 years ago but Steven King wishes he could write anything half as creepy & scary!

I'll call my Mom (in Pittsburgh) for Mother's Day.

I heard these two recently:

"How do you know your kids are getting older? When they stop asking you where they came from & stop telling you where they're going."

"Mothers of little boys are on the go from son up until son down."

Be well!
