Just a question about baptism...

As you can see I am not a 7th Day Adventist. I do have a friend who is one though, but she is a new convert. She was recently baptized and she says she was baptized in blue. I saw a picture of another congregation do the exact same thing. I know a lot of congregations in various churches wear particular things for particular symbolism very often white for new life, joy, and purity, in Christ. What does the blue robe symbolize at baptism in your Church, if anything at all?

Hi RenewedandRedeemed,

There is no symbology, or curch endorsement, as to what color baptisimal robes are to be worn.

The three prime reasons for color choice has been; (A) For many years there wern't many choices of color offed by church suppliers for what would be called a traditional baptismal robe. Blach has been the number one choice my most churches including SDA churches. (B) Those responsible for the purchase of the robes took into consederation how the color chosen would blend with church decor. (C) Some churches simply used a choir robe.

I hope this answers your question. If byou have others please feel free to call on me at any time by either PM or by e-mail.

Please stop by any time and join in with us here in the SDA forum. I also invite you to join in on the Bible Study sub forum. We would welcome your participaton here both for fellowship and for study.

Your friend and brother in Christ,
Doc

I truly appreciate you taking the time to answer my question and for your invitations. Though I am a very devout Pentecostal, I do appreciate friendship with my other brothers and sisters in Christ regardless of any differences we may have in how we serve the Lord. The most important thing of all, is that we are Christians together, forever brothers and sisters in Christ.

RenewedandRedeemed, you are a very kind soul!

Drop by any time!

This is a little off-topic...I have been growing my hair out for about three years now. I noticed a couple of days ago that it's finally down past my shoulder blades which is the longest its ever been. I think long hair is beautiful and one of my best friends throughout school was Pentecostal with really beautiful hair.

1 Cr 11:15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.

My Pentecostal Church is not as strict to say that we cannot cut our hair at all, but my church does ask that the women keep their hair a length that would be considered reasonably long in that aspect. Mine used to be all the way down my back and then I cut it a little past my shoulders. We are not "oneness" but Trinitarian. My friend is "oneness" and she is not allowed to even trim her hair or wear pants. Still, I believe our hair as women is something special that sets us apart from men and therefore we should never cut it as short as the most common male haircut.

It's funny because there were two Pentecostal girls in my class and one (my dear friend) had really long hair and the other one (super SHY girl) didn't. The shy girl asked my friend how she grew her hair so long, and apparently the reason the shy girl's hair wasn't growing is because she had never trimmed it even once.

She did after that and it started growing a lot longer.

I'm growing mine out until I get through nursing school and then it will be a clean slate to do whatever with. Or I may keep it, I dunno yet.
