Aargh,

T2BC has just asserted that God had sex with Mary in order to concieve Jesus.

On the one hand, it's neat seeing people air some of the minutiae of their beliefs. Unfortunately, the larger context of attempting to redefine "Christian" is appalling. Why let the minutiae divide us? Then again, I'm not a big fan of people trying to divide the world up into "Christian" and "non-Christian" even.

I am amused that T2BC is railing against "heretics," yet this belief of his would have resulted in a visit from the (ba-DUM) Spanish Inquisition.

Time2beCounted and his co-believers are busily trying to define Christianity according to a US fundamentalist POV. Please make sure you are involved in any discussion started by him and his.

T2bc is a pussycat. I recall suggesting only a couple of days ago that his posts were verging on satan worship, and he took it very well, considering. :ebil: :ebil: :ebil:

Would give you the link, but techoilliterate, but it is on OBOB, 'reject satan'. I declined to do so, needless to say. ^_^

When under siege, what else can you do but build that wall higher and stronger?

It is Very Important that we define Christianity because a few paragraphs in the FAQ are apparently instrumental in staving off the horde of satanists and wiccans (led, presumably, by stumpjumper ^_^ sorry SJ) and their conspiracy to masquerade as Christians and use the theology forums to send us all straight to hell! :swoon:

Or something like that. Some people seem interested, as usual, in not letting Mormons or Unitarians claim to be Christian.

Not just Mormons, they would disenfranchise many more of us, given half a chance.

Some people need to understand that this is a WEBSITE! It is not a church and it is absolutely not the Council of Nicaea.

Pretending for a moment that I accept the premise that there is a perfect, true definition of who is "Christian," what do people imagine will happen if somebody who isn't actually Christian is allowed to *gasp* assume that they are one on a website? An internet forum! This is the online equivalent of a bunch of people hanging out in a park together. It is purely social and has no official function in anything.

Exactly.

Why define Christian anyway? Why is it so important on this forum?

Just wanted to say that you are my brothers and sisters, many of you are my friends, and I love you. And am sorry if you have been hurt or offended by any of this.

I honestly don't think that that was what was intended...but we are all too good at bickering rather than supporting one another.
:sigh:
Anyway - sorry this has caused more bad feeling.
If anything I have said has hurt anyone, I apologise - and perhaps you could PM me and we can sort it out.

Maybe we should look at what we agree on....

I'm with Criada. :( I'm sorry for any offense we've caused....I hope we can reach beyond the forum boundries with love.

God bless you all very much.
Your sister in Christ, free.

"What unites us is infinately greater than what divides us."

You and Criada's expressions of friendship are most appreciated, I assure you. Personally, I've found that thread surprisingly civil compared to some others where conservatives and liberals confront each other over an issue. There are only a few statements in it that I've found to actually be offensive; most I simply disagree with.

It seems like a case of overblown perfectionism to me.

Something along the lines of "If the real world won't work the way I think it should, I'll make this virtual world work the way I think it should."
