Palandir, although he was a warrior, could sense the grief in Shiori's voice and replied in an understanding and supportive way, his voice brought low. I would not place my money on your murderer being a thief. Thieves aren't strong of mind and body, they kill only when they have to and when cornered. Assassins on the other hand... they come to kill. Did your family have any strong connections or beliefs that would upset particular people?
If your motivations for coming here as you say I do not believe your motivation to be doubtful or wrong. I myself would seek the same thing, to bring justice to my family name and to kill the man.
Palandir paused, wondering if he dared to share with this women why he himself was here. Looking straight into her eyes he debated with himself, his eyes riveted onto hers... searching them, finally he spoke.
I am here for similar reasons, my father had been retired from the field of battle long ago when a rider on a white stallion road up the gravel road to our cottage. The rider said nothing but simply rode up to my father and handed him a scroll, wrapped in brown cloth. I wondered all that day what was happening, my father had taken his sword down from the mantel place and began to practice, an activity that he had not done in years. The next morning i found my mother weeping at the kitchen table, her breakfast forgotten, my father had left. My mother explained, after she could cry no more, that he had gone to destroy a beast that threatened the lives all. Pointing to the tapestry that he had observed earlier Palandir continued, that creature. The death blow smote him down but the creature had in its claws and fangs a poison that killed all it joined with. My father was strong in all areas, years of working in the fields had hardened his immunity system, he managed to travel home... I can still see his face as he came up the road, tears came to Palandir's eyes as he gave a regretful smile, i was so happy to see him and he me that i didn't even notice the sickly green color that shown through his skin. My mother did though and had him down on the bed before i knew what was happening. Calling me over my father gave me instructions and last words of advice, after doing this he made me swear to carry out his will to the last detail. His last words were "stay strong son". And he died. I cried that day but swore that his death would not be in vain and that i would carry out his will if it killed me. And indeed it may, the creature that my father killed was a male, and it had with it eggs inside of the den. So where was the female? Lacking the strength to hunt the creature my father returned home, knowing that he would die and made me swear to find her and kill her so that the people of this land would remain safe from its tyranny. Devoting myself to the art of war and the path of a warrior i soon became well trained with the sword and set out at age 17 to find this creature. All of the stories and rumors led me to believe it had left, but then a rumor reached my patient ears, the creature was in Bern. By this time i was already 21 and war was brewing, i would have to wait until all was worked out. Seeking a way to keep active and to still travel Bern in pursuit of the beast i found my way here, and so i am under the banner of the king.
Palandir stared Shiori, waiting expectantly for a reply.
((man alive that took a long time to think up and write!!!))
