Shiori heard the blast of the tumpents, she stood up alarmed as Palandir went flying across the field towards the mounted men.
She watched a hand shielding the setting sun as he walked back, a scroll held tightly in his hand.

He handed it to her wordlessly.

//cross the boarder...travel to the capitol...// She read the message quickly.

"So, a mission has come. So quickly..." She looked up at Paladin.

"I'm going aren't I? I--I can sneak in, and you'd be able to get in easily too I'm sure."

Shiori found her hand shaking slightly.

"I'm nervous.."

 

[DUNEBRAKE]

Palandir paused before he spoke, the breeze ruffling his long, dark hair and the sun shinning down on him.

Gently grabbing Shioris trembling hands he spoke-
"You know as well as i that the mission would lead to disaster if i took over, i would want to fight my way in if i were to go on this mission alone. You are ideal for this mission because of your trade. Don't worry, you will be fine, your not even doing any fighting." Bringing a warm smile to his face Palandir continued- "besides, you can take someone with you, that's more than any of us can say."

Palandir's thoughts were far from what he spoke. This was going to be a mission where your identity was to be kept secret, or you would be killed. One false move could lead to disaster and he didn't like it. Even if it had been Amras or Apollo that would have gone he would have felt the same way. He didn't like it but there was nothing he could do but lend his support.

Walking along the road, Tarshk saw a castle up ahead. His hair flitting about in the breeze, he directed his course toward it, enjoying the sun as it beat down on him, warming him with it's beautiful rays. Walking into the castle, footsteps silent, he walked over to the assignment sheet and filled this in:

• Your Appearance: Dirty blonde hair, (like my CF character) green eyes, Tan Skin, about 6 foot. He is of medium build, with a friendly face, but sometimes can become extremely calm and serious. He wears a chainmail body, covered with a black jerkin, with a black cape behind. He wears all black not because he is evil, but because he likes to spring sneak attacks at rare occasions.
• The Reason you fight: Tashk fights because he has always wanted to. He was trained by his father at home, and then set out to make a name and life for himself, and to get much more training.

He then walked into what appeared to be a central corridor, and saw a sign for training on the other side, he walked toward it, wondering what different things it had.

Shiori did feel nervous, her stomach was already in knots.
Palandir tried to quell her fears, and he did slightly. He was right, she wasn't going to fight, it wasn't even part of the mission. Just observation.

"Alright, I can do that." She smiled. "And I will be careful; but Palandir, how are you going to get in? You walk,talk and act like a warrior." Shiori thought for a bit.

"Alright, here's what we'll do, I will have been assigned to dance somewhere. That's easy enough to believe, and you will be my husband. No one will question you then...and we'll be able to stick together without any questions being asked." Shiori looked up at him. "Can you do that? Can you act?"

She couldn't stop the girlish grin from appearing on her face.

 

[DUNEBRAKE]

"I honestly didn't think that i would be the one going with you..." pausing and looking down into Shioris eyes he continued. "I can do whatever in necessary to end this war." Not bothering to keep a straight face anymore Palandir continued. "Ill do my best to keep my occupation hidden and to act more like a husband with no back bone, does that work?"

Palandir was very far from what he said and the mood that he was setting once again. He was already thinking of possible mishaps in the mission and planning for them.

"When do we leave?"

Shiori glanced around her. "Well, we can leave as soon as we're ready. I'll need to change though, a dancer never arrives without looking her best." She recited before laughing.

"You're allowed to have a backbone! Just remember that I'm always right!"

Shiori began to walk back to the building,.

Lamar stood up. "Are you finished Galen? We still need to find our rooms." Galen pushed her plate away from her and stood up. "Ready when you are. I think our rooms are on an upper floor because we've almost searched this whole level." They left the dining hall and went to find the stairs to go to the next floor.

 

[DUNEBRAKE]

Palandir watched her go. Once she was out of sight he allowed his true feelings to vent. pacing back and forth and thinking and planning, his face ashen and troubled. Without even thinking about his actions he drew his sword in one swift motion and cut a sapling in two at chest height. coming out of his daze he realized what he had done and slowly retried to the castle. he preferred that no one know his true feelings towards the mission. Coming into the large double doors of the castle he pick up his pack that he had been set there in case he should be granted a mission, and shouldered it with ease. Slowly his confident self began to shine through once more and his defeatist attitude vanished. Once again he was prepared to do what was necessary. Bring it on Bern, bring it on. Sheathing the sword that he had thus far kept handy he waited for Shiori.

 

[Jenka]

Shiori ran up the steps, alomost knocking into a woman.

"Oh, I'm sorry." She said quickly before turning into her room.
Quickly she slipped off her 'work' clothes and changed into one of her dance outfits.
It was a form fitting sleeveless black top, the pants were a bright red and billowey, allowing free movement.
She slipped black soft soled shoes on her feet, and quickly ran chol around her eyes, and some red stain from poppies, on her lips.
Quickly running her hands through her hair, she delcared herself done.

She grabbed a pack with extra clothes. //Good thing I still hadn't compleatly unpacked// and ran down the stairs to rejoin Palandir.

"Okay! I'm ready if you are. I just need my horse, then we can be off."

Shiori looked around. "I wish I could tell Apollo goodbye...I guess he's still training." She sighed. "Ah well, I'm sure I'll see him soon."

She smiled at Palandir. "Ready?"

 

[DUNEBRAKE]

Palandir hardly noticed the change of cloths as Shiori came back down the steps. "Ready as ill ever be" Palandir replied cheerfully. Better get to the stables so that we can get your horse. Turning back to the gate of the castle that he had left open Palandir walked out and toward the stables. Perhaps it was just a hunch but he felt that in some way things were going to change after this mission. He wasn't sure why or how but he could feel it and he didn't like it.

"Wait! Do you know..." Galen's voice trailed off as the woman who almost ran into her ran off. "Let's follow her Lamar." Lamar and Galen followed her up the stairs. "Those look like rooms." Lamar pointed. "Let's find some that aren't occupied." They found rooms for themselves and put their stuff down. "Let's go outside to see if there is a training area." Galen picked up her bow and arrows as Lamar strapped on his sword. They went down the stairs and out the doors.

Tarshk made his way toward what he supposed was the training facility. Seeing an archer there, he walked silently over. Enjoying the calm breeze and the rays of the sun as he walked. Approaching the Nomad from behind, he spoke, "Hello, I'm Tarshk and I'm new around here, could you tell me where the rooms are please?"
((Thats assuming that Apollo is in the training ground.))

Shiori followed Palandir into the stables.
She knew that her horse, Isis, was in there. She had watched as the stable boy took him to be bedded down when she first got there.

She walked into the stables and took a deep breath. She loved the way horses smelled.

//If I hadn't been a dancer, I would've been a horse trainer.// She thought happily.

Shirori passed Palandir and waked up to a white stallion with a black mane.

"Palandir, this is my horse Isis. He has been with me, since he was a tiny colt." She pat the horses nose, it knickered slightly under her touch.

Shiori saddled him up quickly, and jumped on him. She did not have a side saddle as most ladies did, because of her profession, she was able to ride as a man did, astride.

Shrori twisted in her saddle and pulled a cloak out of her pack. It was bright red, with piping in black. The colours and style of the cloak were unique, and given to dancers only. It allowed them to be recognized on the road.

She smiled over at Palandir. "Alright, lead on my faithful guide."

Screams...hot wind...flame..."Momma, Daddy! No!! Come Back!!"...a little child crying over the corpses of two charred bodies...

Swish...thud. Swish...thud.

"I have to get my mind off of the past...I have to!" thought Apollo to himself. He began firing faster and harder to push his thoughts out of his head. The target shattered soon, so Apollo mearly replaced it and began firing again. He had been training solid for almost a week, stopping only to sleep in the corner of the grounds in a willow tree. Today, though, seemed a bit different, which proved itself right as a young man approached him and asked about directions to the bedrooms. "There's a staircase to the side of the recruiter's office. The rooms are up those. Try to get an unoccupied one." Apollo said as he continued firing.

He had heard the trumpets and the ruckus. He concluded that it was a new mission, and that if he was needed, Palandir or Amras knew where he was, or at least could find him. But then he saw Shiori and Palandir headed towards the stables. "Must be her first mission...I hope it goes well." Sighing, Apollo retrieved his arrows and said to the young man who had stayed to watch, "Here, I'm going that way myself. But first I'm going by the dining hall." He began walking, assuming the man was right behind him, grabbed a loaf of bread and ate it as he made his way to his room.

((Sorry for not posting this week, I was in Louisiana doing mission work. Got back about an hour ago. Nice to meet you, Narmegil))

 

[DUNEBRAKE]

Palandir admired the horse for a short time as he waited for Shiori to mount it. Once she was ready he took his place beside the horse and began to walk with it outside of the stable and away from the castle. "Your going to have to leave the horse once we come close to the border, it will be almost impossible to get past it with a horse. It should return here since horses naturally return home once they are set off." Palandir continued to walk by the side of the horse and soon spotted Apollo up ahead on the road. Remembering that he was supposed to let Shiori lead the mission he decided that it would be best to start practicing. Continuing on he remained silent.

 

[Jenka]

Shiori nodded to Palandir. "Alright, I didn't know that."
She suddenly spotted Apollo on the road, she clicked her heels on Isis' sides.

"Apollo!" She called as Isis trotted up.

"Are you leaving on a mission?" She reigned her hose to a walk so she could talk to Apollo.

 

[DUNEBRAKE]

Palandir allowed Shiori's horse to get ahead of him and kept up a slow, even pace as he continued on. Upon approaching the pair he slowed his pace and stopped at a respectable distance.

"No, I just got done training some more. We got a new recruit, if you didn't know. I didn't ask his name, though," he said. "I see you're traveling somewhere. Were the trumpets for you?"

 

[Jenka]

((nope..not at all ))

Shiori nodded.

"Yes, they were..I've been summoned on a scouting mission. Palandir will be going as well." She smiled down at him.

"So, you are going to meet the new requits? I believe I saw one at the dormatory. Or perhaps in the training field."
She looked behind her at Palandir. "Well.." She turned back to Apollo. "I suppose we better get going, good-bye Apollo, I'll come see you as soon as I'm back!" She waved and bagan to walk on ahead.

 

[DUNEBRAKE]

Palandir followed the horse and shiori out of the castle grounds... they were officially on their way and Palandir was grateful.
