Yet no one cared to "investigate" it until he was running for POTUS the second time?Goes back some 40-50 years. It's just who he is.
The understanding that Trump has been a life long con who constantly flouted the law is not new news.Yet no one cared to "investigate" it until he was running for POTUS the second time?
The belief - yet that begs the question - if everyone always held this belief - why wasn't it investigated before his first term? The understanding that Trump has been a life long con who constantly flouted the law is not new news.
It was. He was involved in over 4000 legal cases between 1973 and 2016. Notable suits include federal housing discrimination, defrauding students, employment discrimination, and sexual harassment. The belief - yet that begs the question - if everyone always held this belief - why wasn't it investigated before his first term?
The Court denied the motion. Though it should be noted that Alito was one of the four justices who voted in favor of blocking the sentencing.I need you to do me a favor though.
Trump speaks with Justice Alito amid push to halt criminal sentencing
Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito spoke to President-elect Donald Trump by phone Tuesday to recommend one of his former law clerks for a job in the new administration, ABC News has learned.
Alito said that he and Trump did not discuss "the emergency application he filed today, and indeed, I was not even aware at the time of our conversation that such an application would be filed," Alito said. "We also did not discuss any other matter that is pending or might in the future come before the Supreme Court or any past Supreme Court decisions involving the President-elect."
It is not unusual for a sitting justice to offer a job recommendation for a former clerk, but it is rare, court analysts said, for a justice to have such a conversation directly with a sitting president or president-elect, especially one with an active stake in business pending before the court.

Why wasn't this crime investigated earlier? It was unknown until first hints of it were reported in April 2018 (the existence of the payments by Cohen to Daniel). Cohen was charged for it and other crimes in Aug 2018. Cohen testified about the scheme in Feb 2019. At the time Trump was president. After he left office and the election of a new Manhattan DA in Spring 2021 that office began investigating the publically reported apparent crime. A grand jury met in Jan. 2023 and issued an indictment in March 2023.The belief - yet that begs the question - if everyone always held this belief - why wasn't it investigated before his first term?
We were talking about the fraud specifically - was he convicted of any of these other things and were they felonies? It was. He was involved in over 4000 legal cases between 1973 and 2016. Notable suits include federal housing discrimination, defrauding students, employment discrimination, and sexual harassment.
Did they actually begin investigating in Spring of 2021?Why wasn't this crime investigated earlier? This has been going on for a long time. It wasn't just suddenly started when he announced he was running again.
That's what the wikipedia article about the case says. (Of course the FBI/DOJ knew about it 3 years earlier and charged Michael Cohen for it then.)Did they actually begin investigating in Spring of 2021?
Does it claim that though? That's what the wikipedia article about the case says. (Of course the FBI/DOJ knew about it 3 years earlier and charged Michael Cohen for it then.)
Either way, then how is it a problem? You were claiming they waited until he started running to investigate them. This is clearly false.Does it claim that though?
It claims that the investigation began "after" a new Manhattan DA in Spring of 2021 - that does not mean that the investigation began in the Spring of 2021.
And Trump announced his running for second term in Nov of 2022.
How is what I claimed "clearly false"?Either way, then how is it a problem? You were claiming they waited until he started running to investigate them. This is clearly false.
Yes, I'm sure some people had the integrity not to vote for someone convicted of 34 felonies. You believe this fact affected how anyone voted?
Sad that it took so long?In an order, Merchan wrote that it is ordered "that Defendant appear for sentencing following conviction on January 10, 2025, at 9:30 in the morning, at the Courthouse located at 100 Centre Street in New York County." Merchan said that Trump could appear in person or virtually.BREAKING: Judge Juan Merchan orders Trump to appear for sentencing in falsified business records case on January 10

How sad.
The decision of the American people was he was guilty of 34 felonies. I didn't think that the judge would give him any jail time but I did think that he would fine him.Especially since he never falsified any financial records. I think it's clear that a number of radical Democrats are trying to sabotage the decision of the American people to elect Trump president, they intend to destroy our nation if they can. I believe this last act to interfere in the presidential transition will sway the people to insist Mr. Merchan and others be held accountable and, at a minimum, be disbarred.
That sounds just like the ploy Republicans used to keep Joe Biden from being reelected. The difference is Republicans found nothing to charge Biden for but refused to drop their hearings because they wanted to adversely effect his campaign.Democrats figured if they could pin a felony charge on Trump he would surely lose the election. Your strategy failed.
The fact there was an unconditional discharge proves this was not a serious case but was in fact a political hit job. The only victory here for the left is the ability to TEMPORARILY and gleefully use the phrase convicted felon. This injustice will be reversed on appeal.Yeah, too bad voters picked a convicted felon to represent them. Oh well, hope they continue to get all that they voted for.
This was not the decision of the “American people “ the American people voted on this In November. The decision of the American people was he was guilty of 34 felonies. I didn't think that the judge would give him any jail time but I did think that he would fine him.
The American people voted to convict last year,as well. This was not the decision of the “American people “ the American people voted on this In November.
