Note: that verse refers to the Book of Revelation, not the Bible. The Bible had books not even written then, and wasn't compiled till centuries later. It is very similar to the verse in Deut. that says very similar. If anyone adds or takes away from the words of this prophecy, let them be a cursed
I take the whole bible as that prophecy because it says I am the beginning and the end.
So is that how many books they have added?
You are the one that denys the foundation upon which it rests. The foundation is not the bible. The foundation is living apostles and prophets that receive revelation from the cornerstone of the foundation which is Jesus Christ. If you are unfamiliar with this foundation then read this scripture:
Ephesians 2:19-21King James Version (KJV)
19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
You will notice that Jesus is the foundation along with living apostles and prophets. This is the foundation of the Church that Jesus set up before he ascended. What foundation does your church rest on????????????
And by the way, we do not deny the bible, we just say it is not the foundation fo the Church of the first century or ever. The bible did not come into existence until the 4th century. How could it be the foundation of the church in the first 3 centuries.
If you saying that Jesus is the foundation, you are correct, but only partially. Jesus is the one that set up the church and the foundation thereof. He is the one that set apostles and prophets in the foundation along with himself. He did that because he knew he would be in heaven and he needed help here on earth to grow his church and admnisister his church, and the ones that he chose to start with were the foundation of his church.
So the foundation is not Jesus himself or the bible, but by his own words, the church is built upon the foundation of apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ being the chief cornerstone. Again, what is the foundation of your church??????
That would be Catholic bibles your referring too. Yes they have added.Note: that verse refers to the Book of Revelation, not the Bible. The Bible had books not even written then, and wasn't compiled till centuries later. It is very similar to the verse in Deut. that says very similar.
Anyway, mainstream Christian Bible range from 66 to 83 books. LDS use 66 books in the Bible. Varying Christian groups use other texts as authoritative, such as the Creeds.
Your error is that you have unilaterally decided to take the whole bible as the prophecy. The prophecy as John taught us was the prophecy of this book. Not the prophecy of any other book(s), but his book of Revelations. Don't be changing or adding or subtracting words from his book.If anyone adds or takes away from the words of this prophecy, let them be a cursed

See you on planet 12wx39erzwt!Your error is that you have unilaterally decided to take the whole bible as the prophecy. The prophecy as John taught us was the prophecy of this book. Not the prophecy of any other book(s), but his book of Revelations. Don't be changing or adding or subtracting words from his book.
Have you ever compared Revelations from the KJV with Revelations from any of the other hundred or so versions of the bible? If you have you will understand what John meant. There are words that have been added, words that have been subtracted and words that have been changed by men and women throughout the centuries. What do we do with these people and there dubious activities????
Besides the books that LDS use besides the bible are not add-ons of the bible or extra words inserted into the bible, they are stand alone scriptures that have their own value, given by the word of God to a prophet of God. So the books we use obviously include the bible, that is a very important part of our scirptures. But we know that God will not restrict himself to the words of the bible. They represent a very very very small % of his words.
It is more intellectually and spiritually promising to go to the sources of what studied LDS read and study than what anti-LDS study and print. What do you think you are going to learn from an anti-Mormon??????????????? It would be like going to an atheist to learn about God. Like going to a Muslim to learn about Christianity. Be smart.Be interested in your view on your research into Mormon faith. You seem well educated on it and it would be helpful for those of us who want to know the truth about that faith.
Galatians 1
6I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
11But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. 12For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.
2 Corinthians 11
3But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 4For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him. 5For I suppose I was not a whit behind the very chiefest apostles. 6But though I be rude in speech, yet not in knowledge; but we have been throughly made manifest among you in all things.
2 Cor 11 NIV
6I may indeed be untrained as a speaker, but I do have knowledge. We have made this perfectly clear to you in every way.
Acts 17
10And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thitherwent into the synagogue of the Jews. 11These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
I just wanted to ask you how you are doing with all of this? Have you broken the news with your family? Your church? I imagine it would be a difficult conversation.
You’re doing valuable work here exposing these distortions of the word, God bless you
There is only one God. So, how can Mormons believe that we too can be god's after death?
That would be Catholic bibles your referring too. Yes they have added.
Although the Mormons use 66 books of the Bible, what other books do they use?
It's ok, such misrepresentations are ridiculously common. Thank you though, for you honest approach here. It is very Christ-like. Here's a few links talking about actual LDS beliefs on Christ:I read differently, apologies if I was misinformed on that point, I’ll look into it
If this man lost he testimony over this chapter, then he didn't have a testimony to start with. It is a great chapter about the separation of Nephi and his people, and Laman and his people. It does mention metal plates, metal swords, building with some iron and gold and silver, etc. but really a nothingberger in terms of a testimony killer for good active people. To date, this is the most powerful "anti-mormon" message I ever read.
Why I Left Mormonism - the Mormon Church
And he really drills down into Nephi chapter 5 here regarding metals:
2 Nephi Chapter 5 of the Book of Mormon - Metals | Recovery from Mormonism
He exposes the utter absurdity of the whole thing.
It reminds me of what happened to me when I actually studied the subject of hell in the bible and quickly did a 180 on my beliefs.
The Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, Pearl of Great Price, and testimony of modern prophets are bear the same message and joy: Jesus is the Christ. That would be Catholic bibles your referring too. Yes they have added.
Although the Mormons use 66 books of the Bible, what other books do they use?
We become one with God, having been made clean in the blood of the lamb, see John 17.There is only one God. So, how can Mormons believe that we too can be god's after death?
You are the one that denys the foundation upon which it rests. The foundation is not the bible.
Which is Christ, for all of us ChristiansI agree that the foundation is not the bible. Regarding my comment about the "foundation", you are correct, I used the wrong word. I use the word "foundation" universally to mean the thing on which everything else rests.
