My favorite thing about obama was that he was an unapologetic smoker. (No, I'm not a smoker.) Then he gave that up for "image". What's that say?

It says he is intelligent enough to realise he wouldn't be there to watch his kids have children if he carried on smoking.

I was an unapologetic smoker who gave up when mortality raised its ugly head as well.

So how come there's never stories from the AP asking if he'll be alive in a few years?

It also shows that Obama was smart enough to know that being a smoker could cost him votes. Therefore, he quit. Or did he? Maybe it's just that the media never takes pictures of him smoking and/or refuses to print them.

The timing of all these little things Obama does is incredible. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he quit smoking. But the timing is just far too obvious.

I guess having dozen of people keeping an eye on you all the time kind of help... add the journalist to the mix and you get the best quit smoking aid possible.

Probably. I do applaud him for quitting - assuming he did. I've got some good friends, who are about the same age as Obama, who really need to quit smoking. I really wish they could, especially in light of the fact that one of them has 4 very young children.

I'm sure this has been addressed but...
Did you, by chance, graduate from both Yale and Harvard?

If not, would it be fair to say that you're well below average?
Nepotism ring a bell? His 2.0 gpa in history is just a little sad but pops went to yale. After being rejected by U-Texas his gramps alumni status is the only thing that would bring a C student to Harvard.

Ironically, that's exactly where the left is leading us through the idea that some people are "too rich" and therefore need to pay more than the already over half of the total tax burden.

Your argument is inherently flawed. What do they get out of their taxes?

Just for the record, once she becomes Vice-President, she will no longer be a Chief executive of a state

And she was too busy to learn about economics and foreign policy while Governor of a relatively small state (population). Since she lacked the initiative and gumption to learn there, why should she suddenly find it with more responsibility?

Attitude and the company he strives to keep. Education has nothing to do with being an "elitist" because, as previously posted, there are many highly educated people and many brilliant people (because the two are not the same) that are completely down to earth.

Name them. Say a dozen?

It's the attitude that (the general) you have the answers

That's incredibly hypocritical. I advocated reading and learning to gain knowledge and spend considerable personal time doing so, which you called arrogant. I do so specifically because I know I do not have all of the answers. Explain the hypocrisy.

But elite can be pejorative if you wear that label and flaunt it.

What has Senator Obama done that is elite?

Dressing as well as a Gay Male?

I would have used a different term, but those who don't know me would have taken the more earthy term badly.

Perhaps the term you're looking for is Metrosexual.

Didn't go to Harvard or Yale did you?
Any school at all for you? Since you ask, I'm considering all my options for the continuation of my graduate work.

And you can claim nepotism all you want. But even if it got the guy in, it couldn't have made him graduate.
My admission to college, unlike GW has been purely based on merit. And Bush's degree has the merit of Harvard extension. Defending a C average in history, of all things, is just sad. It's unacceptable and I don't think universities should allow C students to graduate. It makes their piece of paper worthless.

Blindly hate-filled, left-wing sour grapes ring a bell?
I'm not the one that created the reality of his academic career. According to you, than Bush is the blindly, hate-filled, left-winger.

What additional responsibility will she have as Vice President?

Unless you provide the name of the college you attended, and a photo student ID, you are lying.

And I completed my graduate studies 15 years ago. 3.92 CGPA. But never mind. You'll just say I'm lying anyway. That's your ready answer when you can't come up with anything better.

I'm not sure what you get out of these games. You know I never asked for that kind of personal information. Although I can easily have discourse IRT any of my undergraduate majors and my graduate degree. And most likely I can have discourse about your undergrad work providing you didn't obtain a divinity degree.

No, I don't think you're lying. I am going to guess you have some kind of humanities/arts degree and imo you (general you) darn well better have a high gpa. There is no reason that a student shouldn't graduate at least cum laude with a non-science arts degree.

Do you really not know what Vice Presidents can do?
I asked you what additional responsibilities she would have, and your response is another question? What I expected was you to compare the differences between her current responsibilities with her prospective responsibilities. I'll give you another chance here

On the 6-pack American holding one of the highest offices in the US...

If I had it my way, academic achievement would certainly play a role in 2008. My ideal leaders would definately have undergrad and graduate degrees in political science, with all the bells and whistles of a liberal arts education, and business, but also a science major thrown in there, either in undergrad or grad work. Given my experience with philosophy majors, both here and IRL, that would be a plus as well. If I allow myself to dwell on it, it would probably become a priority.

You think it was mortality that kept him smoking while his wife had a high profile position at a high profile hospital? He was unapologetic until the day he formed a committee and then he quit. Of course it for votes, the timing is too coincidental.

So how come there's never stories from the AP asking if he'll be alive in a few years?

Ha! Good one.

What has Senator Obama done that is elite?

Going to San Fran and talking about regular Americans that "bitterly cling to guns and religion and antipathy towards people who aren't like them."
