I believe Jen Psaki did much to prop up the prez as press secretary and she must be missed. Naturally, I was opposed to anything she said and distorted. Still, she was skilled and efficient in her duties.

Well, yeah. If Republican candidates can somehow keep their battles focused entirely on Biden, they should do very well.

Good luck with that.
ABC NEWS/WASHINGTON POST POLL: Midterm Politics
Biden Struggles, As Does His Party;
Most Dems Look Elsewhere for 2024
His party struggling in the midterms, his economic stewardship under fire and his overall job
approval under 40 percent, a clear majority of Democrats in the latest ABC News/Washington
Post poll say the party should replace Joe Biden as its nominee for president in 2024.
In the midterm election ahead, registered voters divide 47-46 percent between the Republican
and the Democratic candidate in their House district, historically not enough to prevent typical
first-midterm losses. And one likely voter model has a 51-46 percent Republican-Democratic
split.
Looking two years off, just 35 percent of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents favor
Biden for the 2024 nomination; 56 percent want the party to pick someone else. Republicans and
GOP-leaning independents, for their part, split 47-46 percent on whether Donald Trump should
be their 2024 nominee – a 20-point drop for Trump compared with his 2020 nomination.

Uh huh. Keep in mind that this thread is about the mid-term elections, not the 2024 presidential election. It's not the electability of Biden that's an issue, it's his policies. Republicans can get a leg up if they show people what a bad job he's doing. But it would also help if they can manage to convince people that they'll do a better job.

I for one am going to judge the candidates on their own merits, not Biden's.

Republican strategists David Carney:
The shaky stock market and inflation are hurting voters' paychecks and leading them to favor Republicans on the economy, Carney argues, while rising crime and spiking illegal immigration rates do the same for those issues.

"Any campaigning on our side that's not talking about this president's incompetence has a good shot at losing," he said.

It should be obvious that the President has the power to influence the election or non election of a candidate, in the case of Biden numerous candidates have avoided him for good reason.
"The president isn’t featured in ads. He goes largely unnamed on campaign websites and Twitter accounts. And candidates in key races in battleground states are either not asking him to come — or avoiding him when he does." https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...-toward-midterms-he-may-not-be-top-surrogate/

That's better. Now you're on topic. So the Democrat candidates will try to distance themselves from Biden, while the Republican candidates will try to paint their opponents as complicit with Biden's failures. Like I said before, if the Republicans can manage to keep things focused on Biden, they should do well. (But they may have difficulties with that, considering some of their own baggage.)

well actually if the voters consider the cost of gas, the cost of groceries, the inflation rate, the economy in general, the conditions on the border and almost any other topic of importance to them the Republicans will do very well but then I guess some people might consider those things of no importance and off topic.

I often wondered if she got dizzy 'circling back' so much?

Yeah. Republicans should put a priority on talking about those topics.
