You have to know whether what you hear God say to you is from Him to test the spirits. He will never contradict His own word so you have to really know what it says. He may expand your knowledge, but never change it.

I read and know the Word of God to know His nature, and His commands for our lives to be lived abundantly. I obey Him explicitly which means I abide in Him, and He now abides in me.
