I think there are several reasons and it is hinted at with this question: "Why were the majority of nazis not killing jews?"

And a main part of this is in what many say about "Christianity". There are a LOT of "Cristians" in the world that, if you asked them what a Christian was, would say, "Well...I try to be a good person." And the same is true of a lot of muslims, Hindus, etc. i.e. the "muslims" you have to worry about are the ones that really, REALLY take it seriously. The "sort of" Muslims are no more dangerous than the "sort of" Christians.

The video I posted earlier really nails it down.

I have never found the need to own a gun. On the other hand, I have not lived in rural areas or hiked where the need of a gun was essential.

I've lived to age 68 so far, and have three children, the oldest 42, who have never used or owned guns--so I question how "necessary" they are. My husband did shoot a gun in the Army in Vietnam, but he hasn't since.

I suppose that if I were an anxious person obsessed with potential dangers I might feel I needed a gun for "protection," but I try to solve interpersonal problems through dialogue and discussion. Yes, I'm one of those "use your words" people. I also find that not owning a gun probably makes me more prudent about being out alone late at night or engaging in risky activities...I'd rather be prudent than live with a gun and a sense of foreboding.

No. I can't tell you another person is a Christian. I can, however, sometimes tell you someone is NOT a Christian. e.g. if they say they are not, they are not.

But generally speaking, I can say with fair confidence that every person that says they are a Christian is not really a Christian. The bible clearly states that that is truth. I just can't do it on an individual basis.

That's really not the case. We are talking about "core teachings" of islam here, not some peripheral stuff. And I'm not against "people". I'm against a certain teaching, much as one would be agianst nazism or the KKK. Of course, that means some "people" do become the enemy, but not all of them. There are many muslims that don't really understand what it teaches. They are "muslim" because it is simply their culture and what they were taught since birth, or what they are forced to believe under fear of beheading.

Islam is a VERY unique thing in the world of beliefs. It is very wicked teaching and very dangerous. Those most negatively impacted by it are the muslims themselves.

I've read dozens of articles, watched a LOT of youtube videos (from both sides) and the information is crystal clear. For "fun" try it yourself. As a starting point, simply type in "islam" in youtube search.

Well,I actually called myself a Muslim for about 15 years and during that time, I learned a great deal about Islam. Much more than I could learn in a couple articles and Youtube videos anyway. I traveled with a group called a "walking Jamaat" from Kashmir Pakistan and they were the most compassionate caring giving people I have ever met.

I have run into people that talk about this so called contradiction many times and like I said before, a Muslims only holy book is the Quran. There are other books like the Hadith that have useful information but the Quran is THE book. It is their Bible. It's considered the word of God. The other books are not. Doctrine comes from The Quran.

When it comes to contrast of the verses about violence and verses about peace in the Quran, they do not contradict. They are meant for different times. Some in times of peace and some in times of war.

What the terrorists have done is declared a holy war and they are misusing the tenets of their religion to justify their violence toward innocent people. They are not actually following the tenets of Islam and have bastardized the faith with their "jihad." "Jihad" is only supposed to be declared if it is feared that Muslims will be exterminated and then it is to be fought against enemy soldiers, not innocent women and children. The #1 rule of any jihad should be that no Muslim should be killed. When they perform these terrorist acts,innocent Muslims also get killed which even within the terrorists beliefs should land them in the hell fire. The worst sin a Muslim can commit is to kill another Muslim.

So obviously they are lost souls,filled with anger and hatred. They use their faith as a sword tocut down the innocent and that is not Islamic. That is terrorist.

Where I live there are people in their 70's and 80's that have attended church regularly their entire lives - and can't explain the difference between the old and new testaments.

The single video I posted is the equivalent of a college quality lecture on the subject, and covers material that is foreign to most muslims I've talked to, yet critical to understanding the history and teaching o islam.
