Prophecy was meant to benefit man by inspiring them to look at and consider Christ as his return approaches. We will be able to see these prophecies pass as they are fufilled, and many will accept Christ knowing the foreknowledge of God is exposed before their eyes.

Prophecy was also meant to help us prepare for or prevent something.
