No amount of water baptism can either bring in or deter THE HOLY SPIRIT

THAT BAPTISM is from GOD

But even Cornelius family who all were baptized by the SPIRIT FIRST still wrerbeater bsotized as an outward declaration and profession of who believed and belonged to
The Grace being applied in a valid water Baptism is from God. So am not sure what the point here is.
Do you agree or disagree that being a state where all sins have been washed away give the Spirit the most room to work and dwell "in us"?

Romans 10 is sufficient as we don't have the last day as to who will ascend or who will descend

But what is preached is what should be believed and GOD who sees the heart where we confess before HIS EYES knows and is not fooled by false professions

No one needs to declare their faith to a man to be validated by a man that their faith is sufficient

Anyone who believes in CHRIST
Anyone who confesses with their mouth the Lord Jesus CHRIST and believes in their heart GOD raised HIM for our justification ( before HIS eyes where it matters most) will be saved

It doesn't matter what a man says
It matters what GOD says
Precisely. That is why you NEVER form a doctrine on one verse of scripture.

It's GOD's WORK

physical water isn't the thing that cleans the slate of the soul

It's the faith in the GOSPEL that does

No amount of following a ritual of water baptism for one who doesn't believe will fool GOD. That one will not be washed and filled with THE HOLY SPIRIT

Men water baptizing have no power to either bring on or deter THE HOLY SPIRIT

THE "wind" does go where it listeth

Just like men laying their hands on people have no power or repeating words from sinners prayer script have no power. It all comes from God. No one is suggesting otherwise.

To imagine some of believe a water Baptism works for anybody using the same water is just as ridiculous as an assertion that an atheist pretending conversion for what ever reason is going to be "saved" by reciting some words(say he wants a date with pastors daughter). No need to over dramatize a ridiculous assertion, it is ridiculous even without the drama.
Is there a denial of all the Scripture saying there were Baptisms performed for the remittance of sins?

Besides taking the liberty with Acts 10 to favorably embellish the story two questions.
So a child in Cornelius family, even an infant, how are they declaring or professing anything?
What does having some amount of the Spirit coming down on people have to do with whether a subsequent Baptism can remit all prior sins - which can only improve our relationship with God and the indwelling of His Spirit?

There is no being born again without DOING?

What did we DO the first time we were born?

Matthew 7:21 "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven."

John 3:5 "Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."

Born of water & Spirit>>>>>>>>>>>>enter the kingdom
Doeth the will of the Father>>>>>>>>>enter the kingdom

There is one way to enter the kingdom/be saved. Obeying by submitting to water baptized is DOING as the Father commanded (Acts 2:38; Acts 10:47-48). There is no being born again without DOING.

Being born again has nothing to do with the physical birth/corruptible seed, 1 Peter 1:23

If water baptism were necessary for salvation then why didn't the apostle Paul mention it when the jailer asked him what he must do to be saved?

"Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

First, Paul did not command the jailer to "believe only".

Secondly, NT belief includes baptism. "And he (jailer) took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, immediately. And he brought them up into his house, and set food before them, and rejoiced greatly, with all his house, having believed in God."
The participle 'having believed' sums up all what the jailer had just done including his repentance (washing stripes) and being baptized. Therefore a NT belief includes baptism.

"Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household. Acts 16:31. ” It sure sounds to me like he's commanding the jailer to believe only. Not sure how you could interpret that any other way. And yes the jailer was baptized afterwards but Paul didn't say it was a requirement to be saved. That tells me that water baptism is something you do after you're saved, not "to get" saved.

"Believe" and believe only" are two completely different things. Adding the word "only" is changing God's word. If a recipe for a cake has eggs as an ingredient, then "eggs" and "eggs only" are not the same thing for "eggs only" will never get you a cake. Christ's "recipe" for salvation was never "believe only" but includes repentance Luke 13:3; confession, Matthew 10:32-33 and baptism, Mark 16:16. Since repentance is part of the 'recipe' can "belief only" ever save an impenitent person? No. No more than "eggs only" can get one a cake.

So then the thief who was crucified with Jesus who asked Jesus for mercy wouldn't have been saved then and would have gone to Hell, because obviously he couldn't receive water baptism on the cross. Then why did Jesus tell him they would see each other in Heaven?

1) thief is not an example of NT salvation Hebrews 9:16-17. The thief therefore does not change Christ's NT gospel that requires belief, repentance, confession and baptism. NT baptism is a baptism into the death of Christ Romans 6:3-5 and the NT requires a belief that God 'hath raised(past tense) Christ from the dead Romans 10:9. Since Christ had not died neither of these NT requirements were applicable or possible to the thief. Again, he was saved while the OT law was still in effect and not an example of NT salvation

2) There is no proof the thief was never baptized. He may very well been one of those of Mark 1:5 that was baptized. So the "thief argument" is based on nothing more than assumption.

3) Matthew 9:6 while Christ was ON EARTH He had the authority to forgive sins of those whom He thought was deserving as the thief. Christ left earth some 2000 years ago leaving behind His NT gospel as His authority on earth and that gospel requires one to believe, repent, confess and be baptized. Christ obviously is NOT on earth today personally forgiving the sins of men so no one can claim they are saved as the thief for this reason and others detailed above.

So do you believe you can be baptized at any point in your life, no matter what spiritual condition you're in at the time and that counts?
