1 John 3:6-10
Anyone who continues to live in him will not sin. But anyone who keeps on sinning does not know him or understand who he is.

Dear children, don’t let anyone deceive you about this: When people do what is right, it shows that they are righteous, even as Christ is righteous. But when people keep on sinning, it shows that they belong to the devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil. Those who have been born into God’s family do not make a practice of sinning, because God’s life is in them. So they can’t keep on sinning, because they are children of God. So now we can tell who are children of God and who are children of the devil. Anyone who does not live righteously and does not love other believers does not belong to God.

I always read what you write! I like being amused. The point is--why only two weeks and why is two weeks such a big test?
It wasn't a big test. I found out what I wanted to know - if it was actually a difficult thing to do, if it would feel like anything in particular, and if it was true what people say about "blue balls" (it is true). I also found that as sexual tension was building up, I became more prone to looking at women in an inappropriate manner. Porn has that effect too, by the way, but in another manner - it shows you cheap sex with cheap people, real images which can be hard to get out of your head. Porn makes men look out for women who look cheap. Refraining from any sort of sexual stimulation makes more women look sexually attractive, even if you wouldn't normally think they were.

Thank you! We are called to be impervious to evil, and teachers of such. I am glad you see that in me.

It must be all the spiritual armour I wear every day. That breastplate of righteousness is doing its job.
Umm, yeeeeah... that's exactly it.

THis is one thing I can agree with. When you don't touch there is alot of sexual tension and it makes it really easy to look at women lustfully. But like I said, when I used to touch, I did not lust after any women, and I did not look at porn. But it is the guilt I felt that led me to quit. It is extremely hard to quit. As I am a teen and I have a high sex drive. Im trying to no give in but it seems nearly impossible.

Oh, how scientific of you.

Nonsense. Sin is sin, and nothing brings it on with more pressure than simply giving in to thoughts. The sin is in your mind--not in the external triggers. Avoid the triggers, and avoid the act that they bring on. Be righteous before your God., if you know Him.

First of all this wasn't some scientific study, but a personal experiment.

Secondly, I'm not laying blame on anyone or anything for neither masturbation nor my thoughts. I'm simply telling you my experience with porn and with abstaining from any sort of sexual release.

As I've said before, the fact that YOU have serious sexual problems and couldn't touch without going completely perverted, doesn't mean the rest of us do.

My experience is MY experience, just like your experience is YOURS. We can't simply say that our personal experiences and problems apply to the entire world.

MY freedom wil not be judged by YOUR conscience. And YOUR conviction is not to be used to condemn mine.

And certainly, if you feel guilt over it, you are right to quit, whether or not masturbation is actually wrong in a general sense. I wouldn't say it's something worth tearing yourself apart over.

My advice, for what it's worth;

Don't fight flesh with flesh. Walk in faith instead, do like Peter when he walked on the water - his eyes were fixed on Christ and nothing else. And that's why he defeated gravity.

As long as YOU try to fix yourself, that's what you'll have to do - fix yourself. It's pretty much impossible. It's like when an alcoholic joins the AA - he learns to stop drinking, but he's still an alcoholic. Because that's the best MAN can do. God, however, can set you FREE.

In fact, He has already set you free from every sin or addiction you may ever tangle yourself into. You need to simply realise your freedom, start acting as the free man you actually ARE, in Him, and you will see that the battle and the victory belongs to the Lord. You don't have to touch if you don't want to. If you don't like the habit, know that the habit doesn't really have any power over you. That's just a lie, just like it's a LIE that you ever want to sin. You want to do good things, because you are rigtheous. Don't fall for the lie that you are wicked and evil and addicted.

You ARE free. You just need to start thinking and acting like it.

As I've said before, the fact that YOU have serious sexual problems and couldn't touch without going completely perverted, doesn't mean the rest of us do.

I have NO sexual problems, being a happily married, fulfilled woman of God, whose husband knows that when he needs me, he has me...and vice versa.

You are barking up the wrong tree, and any more vile accusations about me personally on that score is malicious lies and will be reported. You are the one laying out your sordid sex life online. Not me.

MY freedom wil not be judged by YOUR conscience. And YOUR conviction is not to be used to condemn mine.

You will be judged by Jesus Christ, if you are a Christian. You don't want to be standing there with Him looking right through your soul and seeing what you do in secret.

As a believer, we have the right to convey the truth in one another's sinful patterns of behaviour. If you want to call that judging, fine--we are to be doing so according to the Word of God. It is the mark of a truly consecrated child of God when one listens and takes the correction to heart and seeks God's Word about it--then makes the correction in one's life.

The ones who spurn correction are who God calls, "stiff-necked"...they have a long row to hoe, spiritually. Too bad.

But isn't it true that you couldn't touch without thinking perverse thoughts and all? That is a serious sexual problem. Normal people aren't like that.

It's also a problem that you have all this shame and guilt and fear surrounding your own body and its functions. Be that as it may - you have no right to impose YOUR problems on others.

You will be judged by Jesus Christ, if you are a Christian. You don't want to be standing there with Him looking right through your soul and seeing what you do in secret.
Yes I will, because I and Jesus have no secrets. The only things I do in secret are acts of charity. I have no conflict with Jesus and my masturbation or lack of it. Again, if YOU do, that's YOUR problem. Don't judge ME with YOUR conscience.

It is the mark of a truly consecrated child of God when one listens and takes the correction to heart and seeks God's Word about it--then makes the correction in one's life.
And yet, you are as stiff-necked and stubborn as ever.

In looking through this thread, I see quite a few posts that were deleted in the past, and there have been alot of reports from this thread before and after 7/7/07.

It is being reopened but please refrain from flaming or being vulgar. Next time it is closed, I will not open it.

You cannot touch without using your mind. The sin starts in the mind to begin with. You are not normal if you think that two weeks without it is a big deal!

Spirit-filled Christians don't do it.

It's also a problem that you have all this shame and guilt and fear surrounding your own body and its functions. Be that as it may - you have no right to impose YOUR problems on others.

No shame or guilt here. I am pointing out a problem you seem to have...mainly the perverse idea that masturbation is not a sinful behaviour.

Yes I will, because I and Jesus have no secrets. The only things I do in secret are acts of charity. I have no conflict with Jesus and my masturbation or lack of it. Again, if YOU do, that's YOUR problem. Don't judge ME with YOUR conscience.

Yes, you just sin before Him brazenly. You will reap the consequences. I am not judging you with anything but the knowledge of what purity is, by the Word of God. You would do well to know Jesus christ as not only your Saviour (do you?) but as LORD.

And yet, you are as stiff-necked and stubborn as ever.[/quote]

Not at all! Thank God! He has me in His yoke...easy and not burdensome. My neck is strong and easily led by Him.
