  6. We are no longer allowing posts or threads that deny the existence of Covid-19. Members have lost loved ones to this virus and are grieving. As a Christian site, we do not need to add to the pain of the loss by allowing posts that deny the existence of the virus that killed their loved one. Future post denying the Covid-19 existence, calling it a hoax, will be addressed via the warning system.

The original audience in Matthew 24 were the disciples.

On the way to the Mt. of Olives, leaving the temple, the disciples in Matthew 24, pointed out the grandeur (implied) of the buildings of the temple v1. Jesus responded with v2.

1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.

2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

    _________________________________________________________________

Now they are upon the Mt. of Olives....

3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

Then you have read all the way through the verses to get to the end.

14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Then end times begin in Matthew 24:15. Matthew 24:15-31 applies to the Jews, Israel, of the end times.

15 When ye [Jews, as the disciples were Jews] therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand : )

Maybe you’ve been reading it wrong.

Let’s start with the first one. It’s a parable about sowing seeds in a field. When a farmer sows seeds in a field, it’s obvious that the majority of the crop will be in that field, even though some seeds will go elsewhere. Does that make sense?

While it may be true that we should listen, it has nothing to do with the discussion on End Times™.

No. Matthew 24:15-31 is end times. As it is about events leading up to Jesus's return in the end times.

Here is a table chart I made for the Olivet discourse. Which parts were near term, then long term, then end times.

    No, it’s first century. I don’t need a chart. :)

And your distinctions can’t be supported by the text. There’s no way a first century Christian would come up with that conclusion.

Where would the not being able to buy or sell without it part fit in to it if not literal?
Im also curious when would God return if everything had been done centuries ago, when would the last person be born or does the world just keep going?

The Christians who were being persecuted were shut off from commerce because they wouldn’t bow to Caesar.

“Now” isn’t in the picture, as far as the “mark” is concerned. But He will return when His enemies have been made a footstool under His feet.

No. This has nothing to do with the mark of the beast. The mark of the beast is bought in by a man performing powerful spiritual signs and wonders, who says he is God.

2Th 2:2-4 to the end that ye be not quickly shaken from your mind, nor yet be troubled, either by spirit, or by word, or by epistle as from us, as that the day of the Lord is just at hand; let no man beguile you in any wise: for it will not be, except the falling away come first, and the man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition, he that opposeth and exalteth himself against all that is called God or that is worshipped; so that he sitteth in the temple of God, setting himself forth as God.

Dan 11:36 And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods; and he shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished; for that which is determined shall be done.

This is not happening yet. Covid vaccine is just a vaccine, like a flu shot. It would be wrong for us as Christians to go against our governments for fear it is somehow evil.

There could be. But those distinctions aren’t in Matthew 24.
