So far in this thread no one has attacked Christ (there has been some off topic discourse I admit). Certainly no one has attacked Republicans, as a matter of fact I have given them props for not giving legitimacy to this thread. Are you puting your self on the level with Christ (first and foremost) and Republicans (which don't seem to be carying the birther torch)?

While i do doubt his sincerity, he is at least paying lip service to intellectual honesty. He's admitting that some of them definitely don't fit. That's much better than we could be getting so let's recognize at least that. He could also be taking an honest look at some of the nonsense he was formerly tempted to just buy into. If that is the case, we should encourage it and build on the progress.

Regardless of my apprehensions, I think we should give him the benefit of doubt and assume he's on the up and up when asking this stuff. If, in the due course of time, it becomes clear that he is just framing craziness like this to try and make it seem less insane, we can discount it at that point.

HH, one thing to keep in mind is that even if all of these fit both men, one can probably find a slew of accurate comparisons between ANY two people. Me and you might both like seafood, be veterans, and work in the healthcare field. Or maybe instead we both wear glasses, put together hifi audio systems, and have broken printers we need to replace.

It doesn't mean we have any similarity in our goals or methods of leadership.

Tell me about it. I can't stand it. I thought it was getting bad with the left in regards to Bush (I disliked Bush but I also hated all the stupid "Bush is Hitler" stuff) but with Obama things are just getting out of control - this thread being a good example.

Can we please have a bit of rationality here? Can we please be reasonable? The political climate is just getting less and less sane.

It's gotten to the point where I can't watch any new on TV, and the only news sources I can stand are NPR and the Daily Show. The former for it's reasoned approach to the news and the lack of two people yelling at each other, and the latter for letting me know that I'm not insane for hating the news media.

well no, hitlers father didn't abandon him anyway, he was a strict man, but he loved adolph, so even if obama's father did abandon him, its still not right.

oh yes by the way adolph's father's descent was questioned not adolph's, i know a lot of people question wiki but it does say that adolph's father wasn't sure who his own parents were so adolph went by his mothers name.
what does "burst" on the political scene mean? hitler ran like what 2-3 times before winning? i wouldn't call that "bursting" by any logic.

plus hitler ran more on a political base of "we have someone to blame for our downfall! the jews who worked to bleed us dry and destroy us from within!" or something, along with what happened to germany over the last 10 years after losing WWI
after all they couldn't have an army and what the other countries did to germany killed their economy

by the way hitler started out as a christian, he soon lost himself in the rhetoric of putting his country first, including promoting the history of the rhine and nordic beliefs that helped people to believe they were ubermensch, rather than people twisted by anger at the world.
