Is the UK now owned by muslims?

They have a big problem with muslims right now running around in gangs, beating uk citizens, making demands, terrorizing people and so on. And the prime minister is locking up anyone that is on social media saying they want the muslims and immigrants out.

If you go on Twitter and just search "uk Muslim" you'll find countless videos from the UK of pubs barracading their doors, people being beat, gangs of muslims carrying machetes, police officers advising muslims to hide weapons at mosques so they cant be searched and more.

Here even see official press briefings starting with a Muslim greeting.

And this police briefing looks like a hostage video.

I live in the UK and those links you provided were from Tommy Robinson (not his real name), an extreme right wing activist. What he is doing is not liked by most of us here. You can look him up on Wikipedia (Sorry, I don't know how to provide the link.)

We do not have a big problem with Muslims, who are some of the most peace-loving people I know. We have a problem with people who use violence against others and it is usually the far right extremists who do this. How much of this is incited by Robinson, or his attitudes and rhetoric, I don't know. Muslims are often the victims, not the aggressors.

We have been a multi-faith, multi-cultural society for years and most of us get on well. Those of us who are Christians long for the Muslims to come to know the Lord as we do with the atheists, agnostics, Hindus, Buddhists etc. However we try to do this by telling them about Jesus and living our lives for the Lord, not by making them unwelcome. They are British citizens.

Being British is not the same as being white although some of us are, and it's our ancestors who went into other people's countries and ruled them there. The very least we can do is allow them to come here, which is their right, and make them welcome. (I have lived as a minority white in a Hindu area and I loved the Indian restaurants and was fascinated by the sari shops.) Unfortunately not everyone knows the history and it's sad to see such racism today which I thought had disappeared in the 1970s.

As for the police officers in the video clips you have shown: why shouldn't they use a Muslim greeting in an area with a high proportion of Muslims? They continued the rest of their messages in English. It was a gesture of solidarity with the victims of the violence, I believe, and it put out a strong message that no violence will be tolerated. The Prime Minister and Home Secretary are doing the same.

No, the UK is not owned by anyone. It is a democracy which we all share.

So British no longer means Scottish, Northern Irish, English or Welsh?

All of those are British and we sometimes call ourselves by whichever of the four countries we come from. However citizens of those countries may have various ethnicities, not just Caucasian.

So how does it work? Once you step on British soil you transform into a Brit?

I’m from the UK and I think this rioting is disgusting. However, I do have serious concerns about immigration as many Brits do. We are a small country, already over-crowded. Our free healthcare system is crumbling. I have seen this as I work in healthcare. There are not enough houses to house everyone. We have veterans sleeping on the streets yet people seeking asylum are prioritised for housing. Many Brits who have paid into the system their whole lives cannot get a dentist unless they pay privately and struggle to get a GP appointment.

In an ideal world, yes, we should welcome everyone BUT we are a small country, already over-crowded and we do not have the space or resources to just let everybody in. It’s only going to get worse. I am not ‘far-right’. I pray for peace and I completely understand why people flee from their countries and seek asylum…but I am also very concerned about the future of this country.

Because I’m a Christian and I have empathy for others, but like I said we need to be realistic too. Everybody will suffer if our country becomes overcrowded and our healthcare system crumbles. People are having to wait 12 hours for an ambulance currently. I have seen this with my own eyes time and time again through my job.

Does empathy mean we as Christians have to let any body and everybody into our countries?

Of course not - any more than you step into a McDonald's and become a hamburger.

Mohammed Al Fayed owned Harrods and wanted to become a British citizen for years. He wasn't successful.

UK has gone down the toilet. It has been for many years. To me, it does appear that the muslims are taking over the country. And, it seems like the authorities are afraid to say 'boo' to them!!

It depends on whether you see "your" country as truly yours or belongs to God.

Biblically - speaking, we are to welcome foreigners. The only exceptions are foreigners who only intend to do evil. Yet, we do not keep everyone out because some did evil. We must examine each one individually, not discriminate a whole ethnic or religious group.

We must not judge anyone by their ability to make money as well. God doesn't.

I have thought for some time that our country is being ruled by fear.
We are afraid of offending anyone because the more extreme Muslims may get violent. It is the extremists who are doing the damage; peace-loving Muslims say they are damaging the faith and distance themselves from them. I seem to remember a "not in my name" hashtag that was trending a few years ago.

In an ideal world, people would stay where they were born, because, except of individual cases like marriage, no mass of people would have a reason to move to another country and to another culture.

In a less ideal world, it seems much better to help people where they are, instead of trying to move them to where you are.

This whole thread is odd. Speaking of countries as being "owned" by Islam or Muslims strikes me as a very ISIS-like thing to do (witness, for instance, how certain strains of the Islamic worldview lead to some radicals talking about "taking back" al-Andalus/Spain; it's a very medieval way of viewing things). I'd rather not give any support to that worldview, myself.

Of course, it's a dog whistle for "too many brown people".

Like at the recent Republican convention in the US. Certain elements of the Religious Right had a fit because a Sikh woman lead a prayer. There were accusations of letting an "idolater" into the "Christian" party. Nevermind that Sikhism is an aniconic religion with an apophatic theology. It's really about hating "brown people not like us".

I doubt it has anything to do with color. Its just the media narrative. It was not so long ago when Brits hated the Eastern European workers (white people and culturally compatible).

When media shout "racism", its almost always something else.

No, there are immigration controls but people with British citizenship can come and live here, as far as I'm aware. I've looked it up and it's a complicated issue.

Explain this to me.

Can you demonstrate to me where in the bible foreigners are to be welcomed and that this is the universal Christian policy? Where did Jesus advocate this policy?
We must not judge anyone by their ability to make money as well. God doesn't.
Why can't a society look at someone and see how they will or will not contribute to society financially and whether or not they will be a net benefit? Is everyone entitled to live anywhere they want and have taxpayers cover their expense?
