A great many polls have been taken and the majority of Christians agree with the theory of evolution.

This is reality, which you are free to deny if it suits you.

Were you going to address my question as to whether your perception of science could be fallible?

Yes, but ask them specifically, if they believe that man evolved from a creature that was less intelligent than an ape, a creature that needed millions of years to finally grow a brain large enough to invent a bow and arrow, and I bet you wont find many to agree with that. If you did however, it wouldn't change my opinion. The bible says that a day will come when people no longer endure sound doctrine , and no longer endure the truth, but will be turned aside unto myths or fables. So if a majority of Christians did actually believe the ape-man fable, then it wouldn't be surprising, although a little shocking. I would still be in the minority that didn't believe that fable however, if that were to happen.

They have been asked, over and over in many, many polls whether they agree with the TOE and the majority says yes.

I see you avoided my question again.

Newton was non-orthodox, and would have even been considered illegally heterodox for his place and time.

Albert Einstein was raised in a secular Jewish household. In 1954 he wrote, "It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly."

Despite popular belief, Orthodox doesn't necessarily reflect scripture.

I can see that you either don't understand human behavior, or haven't yet observed it fully. I can see that you also don't understand the specifics of the poll I was suggesting.

Polls have been done with specific questions asked; did God have a role in evolution, or did he not.

At the end of the day, the majority AGREED with the theory of evolution. You see, someone either agrees with it, or they don't.

Are you going to answer my question?

Barbarian asks:
So you admit that sprouts can grow from redwood seeds, but giant redwood trees cannot, since we've never seen it happen?

And Hyracotherium had all the genetics needed to evolve into a modern horse. It appears the only reason you don't see them as equivalent, is that growing big trees don't scare you.

All that is necessary is sunlight, water, and decent soil. Hyracotherium started as a small browsing animal and evolved over time into a large grazing animal. All that is necessary is mutation and natural selection.

That's been directly observed. Sorry, but observed phenomena say that you are wrong.

No, you're wrong about that. The bacteria observed by Barry Hall, for example, evolved a new irreducibly complex enzyme system by mutation and natural selection. You're denying what's directly observed. There's a word for such thinking, and it's not "inquisitive."

Interesting claim. Let's see your data.

No, that's observably wrong, too. Repeated observations show that mutation and natural selection frequently result in increased fitness. Would you like some more examples?

Hall's bacteria retained the old enzyme, but evolved an entirely new, regulated system. Let's see your numbers showing that it was not an increase in complexity.

Sounds interesting. Show us your numbers.

And yet Hall's bacteria did several such mutations in less than a year, producing that new enzyme system. If reality doesn't agree with your reasoning, isn't that an important clue for you?

See above. Let's see what you have. Looks like more creationist fairy tales.
Guys & gals; Love all UR well thought ideas. Seems 2 me UR quoting Plato 2 a chimpanzee. Ignorance is it's own reward.. But God luv ya'all 4 tryin'!...marty

The majority doesn't believe that. I bet if you took an unbiased poll among Christians, and asked them whether they believed that man evolved from apes, then the majority would say no.

You would lose again. From the latest Gallop Poll, only a majority of American Christians with a high school (or less) education and who attend church at least once a week believe in YE creationism. The idea that God used evolution as the process of creation is held by ~32% of regular church attendees. This percentage increases with education.

So, unless your criteria for being a Christian is a poorly educated person who attends church weekly, you lose.

And this has what to do with the theory of evolution?
