Religious bias. Specifically the kind that can only imagine those like themselves. If your first reaction to hazard, including imminent harm, is prayer, then you may think it is the same for everyone. Even when I was religious, I didn't turn to prayer to solve or escape problems, acute or otherwise.

I either tried to solve my own problems or asked for help from humans that could provide aid. When I hit that patch of black ice I didn't cross myself but tried (and failed) to steer out of it. When the car was in a frozen field I worked out what I needed to do and walked to the next farm to call for assistance.

Don't guess .. Why not try to form a testable hypothesis and actually see if you can objectively demonstrate overlaps?
