  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is the Bible fallible? Keep in mind that it was written by men, assembled by men, and has been changed/altered/arranged for centuries by men. The Word of God is not fallible, but why are we so sure that the current Bible is the accurate "Word?" Even today, there are at least two mainstream versions. That doesn't even include the different translations.

Well... Jesus did not instruct His disciples nor for any succeeding generations to put together a manuscript containing His teachings + the old scriptures.

Jesus did not instruct anyone to write down His teachings either (though some or at least one of His disciples did it).

Neither did Jesus told anyone to anticipate the coming of a new scripture - The Bible. (old scriptures + His teachings + apostolic scriptures)

Jesus did promised one thing to guide us in all truth - The Spirit of Truth - John 16:13.

Many Christians would argue that the Spirit of Truth would point you 'back' to the Bible. But IMO, it's 'circular reasoning', a logical fallacy because nothing in Christ's teachings support the argument.

Although Jesus said '...haven't you read the scriptures....' in Matthew 21:42 and a couple other verses, it's a question. It's not a command to read the scriptures. But Jesus had to quote scriptures because it's all the Jews understood at the time. It's how Jesus can make them understand that he is who he says he is.

Pretty much the same thing I'm doing now, quoting scriptures because that is all what most Christians could comprehend.

Furthermore, the Bible raises some red flags. The number of man is 6. The number of books in the Bible is 66. Is this telling us that the false prophet is a man holding a Bible? If the deception is so clever to even deceive the elect.... The deception has to look, sound, and feel authentic.

The Word of God is infallible is TRUE. However, there is not enough books in the world to contain the Word of God, according to the words of the beloved disciple - John 21:25. This means even if the Bible is infallible, but if most of our theology / doctrine is based on the Bible, Christianity is seriously lacking in the truth, in God's Words.

So about your question. I won't give an answer to your question. Telling everyone around the notion that the Bible is fallible is sure to get the attention of the moderators of this forum. This forum stands upon the "Nicene Creed" and to declare the Bible is fallible would mean the Nicene Creed is also likely to be flawed and will not be tolerated in this forum.
