  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is not honoring the sabbath a sin?

Nu-uh. Not a fool...just a victim of a false Gospel, is all.

I respect your opinion. agreement is an entirely different story. it is this view of the bible that made Christianity come to life for me, instead of being a bland sunday service and lukewarm fellowship afterward. when I began looking at these things that God has for me; what he requires of me- suddenly the piece fit. You sir can have your reckless 'grace', I believe grace God gives is both a pardon and the power to live according to his law.

What's that?....just choosing to take God on His Word that we are free from having to live by laws and decrees? (......the message of the New Testament???)

but you speak as though the old testament can teach you nothing. as though God in the old testament didn't Give grace to his followers or that he didn't require faith in his true children. you speak as though jesus did away with morality in his death. that we do not have to follow God's standards or morality; it is true that we cannot of our own power do this to his liking that is why he gave us his pardon and guiding power, his grace. you completely mangle the idea of freedom in christ as though that freedom once we are in christ is that we can sin when you already had that 'freedom' apart from christ, freedom in christ is the power of the holy spirit freeing you from yourself to do his will to keep his commands. obedience to God is not legalism.

sorry that rant was from weeks of reading your candy coated posts and bashing of 'legalists'. of course frogster has recently taken your crown on this front :)

No need to apologize. :)

..."bashing"?

You mean simply proving those who live by law wrong with pretty much every single little argument they've put forward? (....something scores of other people here have also been doing? :D)

of course frogster has recently taken your crown on this front :)
...well, he does seem to know what he's talking about. Don't know if he's "bashing" either though.

Peace

Whoopsie, doopsie, Stryder. We's got a problem here. Is it really true that you posted the previous reply on the Sabbath. I could hardly believe my eyes to find you working on the Sabbath.

If you want to think I'm working than that's on you. It puts me in good company though because the Pharisees were always trying to accuse Jesus of breaking the sabbath.

John 10:33 Answered the Judeans to Him saying "about a good work not we are stoning Thee but about blasphemy/blasfhmiaV <988> and that Thou, being a man, are making thyself a God/Elohiym".

Reve 16:11 And they blaspheme the God of the heaven out of the miseries of them, and out of the sores of them, and not they reform out of the works of them

How are you free from living under God's law? You know that the bible calls lawlessness sin right?

Can you please explain how the law brings bondage?

You know what the ironic thing is, as much as you talk about us being legalistic for wanting to keep the sabbath, you're just as legalistic for keeping Sunday. I mean, if there's no commandment for keeping any day holy anymore why go to church on Sunday?

Or are you simply lawless because you don't have to keep any day holy now? But of course how do you keep a day holy if there is no longer a holy day? But who said there is no longer a holy day? Did God change His mind?

So many question, not enough answers...

How do we honor the sabbath day?

We know that we can honor the 7th day by resting, because we know that God rested on the 7th day.

We know that we can honor the 7th day by doing good things for other people, because Jesus healed on the 7th day.

We know that we don't honor the 7th day by condemning other people on the 7th day. The Pharisees didn't get very far doing that.

So where does that leave us? We can rest, or do good work. So what is the SDA problem with the rest of us? We keep the sabbath, we just don't go to your church.

We go to church on Sunday to celebrate the Lord's resurrection. Now tell me I'm wrong for doing this.

Ok, you're wrong for doing this. There is no command in the bible to worship on a regular workday. If you can furnish one scripture calling Sunday a holy day than I shall recant. Until then you must understand that you have no biblical evidence for worshiping on Sunday, the first day of the week, when we are told to keep Saturday, the seventh day of the week holy.

Note the key word there is keep for it is already a holy day.

Who's condemning anyone? Telling someone you're wrong, and condemning them are two different things.

So where does that leave us? We can rest, or do good work. So what is the SDA problem with the rest of us? We keep the sabbath, we just don't go to your church.

So are you telling me that you abstain from doing your own pleasure on Saturday? For example, to you avoid watching secular programming or listening to secular music? Do you keep from going shopping or hanging out at the mall just to kick it? Does your observance of the sabbath begin at sundown Friday night and last till sundown Saturday?

It's not about going to church. It's about keeping the day holy.

Oh puhleese. You guys reek with condemnation for non-sabbath adherence 'as you alone' see it, all the while claiming NOT ME, but GOD.

I'm sorry...it's coming from YOU, not God.

Telling someone you're wrong, and condemning them are two different things.

Uh, no, they are not one whit different. IF you say it's WRONG it is also therefore A SIN. And as A SIN, it is also condemnation. And if condemnation, it is also the potential of ETERNAL DEATH....

So in these facts you do bear in your 'assembly' the conveyance of sin, condemnation and death to your fellow man EVERY STEP OF THE WAY...

All the while thinking you HAVE SOMETHING TO GIVE TO GOD...

You believe GOD NEEDS YOUR SERVICE in order to keep Him from DESTROYING you.

One might as well start tossing virgins into volcanoes for APPEASEMENT.
