CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Are you aware of the women who like porn? I've seen them often in the stores and talked to them in forums, including this one. Are they hairy palmed and afraid of women?

You are right, I am sure. I also know women who like to be urinated on and defecated on. I know women who like to be beaten, and ask to be raped. I know women who stick their heads in ovens for hours at a time and rip the hair out of their bodies with glue and tweezers, who stick plastic bags full of drugs, and other things into their bodies, and have major surgery to change the way they look. I know women who starve themselves to death not to appear too fat, who take dangerous drugs to lose weight. I am sure there are some that enjoy watching pornography.

You are right. Both men and women do horrendous things to themselves. Some read bibles and believe in never-never land instead of living in the real world.

My wife was at a hot meals program downtown yesterday, serving meals to the poor... did you know that every single person there volunteering 6 hours of their weekend were Bible readers? There was not one atheist, self worshiping hedonist there.

First, who runs the program? Is it religious with a statement of faith, thereby excluding other than bible readers/worshipers? A lot of them do that.
Second, how many participants are we talking about? You do know atheists are a minority, right? Unless it is a larger group, even a random sample of the population would be less likely to have atheists.
Why do you think it is necessary to worship anyone or anything? Because you do, everyone must?
I worship only Jessica Alba.
Second, are you aware that I have been a volunteer at various times? I went down to the astrodome quite a few times during the Katrina aftermath. Had to take a break from my hedonistic self-worshipin', ya know?

Good thing nobody worships your god because of what they think he does for them. I ask again what I always ask: if christianity did not include an eternal reward, would it exist today? If your god suddenly decided to drop heaven, which of course he has the power to do, would everyone who is today a christian remain a christian? Would there be any new conversions?

I know it can be a problem for some, but others see a problem where there is none. Guys like to look at naked girls....that alone doesn't mean they have a "porn problem", but often their belief system tells them they do and they believe it.

What they think he does? What would that be other than creation and the sustaining of that creation? One does not worship The Creator because of anything other than God is worthy of worship. Anything else is not worship.

This is nonsense statement. Men don't like to look at naked girls. this s an over generalization that unfortunately has taken on real meaning... in rape, prostitution, child exploitation and slavery. Some men like to look at and fantasize about sex objects... girls are not sex objects. Some women are "made into" sex objects, but there are many that are not.

Then quit telling me I worship things. I consider worship to be a meaningless concept, like "sacred" or "profane" or "sin" or "spirituality". I don't think there is anything behind these words, other than ordinary men with hyperactive imaginations.

Absolutely. The women who complain about women being sex objects are not themselves sex objects. It's not about "degrading women", it's because they are not themselves being "degraded" by anybody. How many of the women who are actually sex objects complain about being sex objects?

Go to the survivors of the sex industry thread and count them. Count up the 1/3 of all women (in the US) that are sexually assaulted in their lifetimes. Count all the Anna Nicole Smiths and Marilyn Monroes that kill themselves because they handle the pressure of trying to be a sex object. Don't forget to count all those that are excluded from your "special" club of worthy women because they don't measure up to yours and medias' standards of beauty. Then be sure to count the victims of anorexia and bulimia that devastate their bodies and psyches in order to try and meet that beauty standard. Let's see. that's got to be more a just a handful of women. How many do think it takes before it is too many?

Yes, count them.
Count the number of "problem cases" in that forum. Then compare that count with the number of women in the sex industry. Those women claim to be a representative sample of the entire industry, and that all women in it feel like they do. Are they and do they? Are ya sure?
Who do you think you will hear from in "recovery" forums? Those who have problems or those who don't? The latter don't have any reason to complain to anyone.
