They were legally married. Period. Secondly, it happened 1400 years ago. Their cultural values are not subject to your approval.Farid said:How could a man in the age of mohamed marry a 9 years girl and have sex with her? Is not that disgusting and child abuse?
If I believed someone was God's chosen prophet, and that person was the political authority in a given area and thus could pass laws concerning the age of marriage, and this happened I would accept is as 100% approved of by Almighty God.What would you say about this if it happens nowadays, let alone from the "prophet" who is supposed to represent God.
Dude...step back and look at that statement. If I believed someone was God's chosen prophet, and that person was the political authority in a given area and thus could pass laws concerning the age of marriage, and this happened I would accept is as 100% approved of by Almighty God.
No, no bells at all. For me, it all has to do with obedience to God. If God wants me to believe something that yesterday I refused to believe, I think I should change my mind right away. If God wants me to believe something that the whole world tells me is wrong, I think I should be on God's side.tulc said:Dude...step back and look at that statement.Aren't there any bells going off in the back of your head?
tulc(who is hearing a lot of bells)
The religion I profess teaches clearly and unambiguously that I am to obey secular governments and the laws they pass.S Walch said:So all those in political authority are correct in what they pass as laws, and whatever they do is from God?
I'm not into politics, I'm into religion, and my religion teaches "The Earth is but one country and mankind it's citizens".Yay, so GWB really is from God, Saddam Hussein was from God, and etc etc etc.
We will have respect for each other and we will stop trying to push our opinions on other countries by force. You see where this is going?
...as long as those in authority don't tell me it's OK to kill them? Or treat them as second class (or less) citizens? Those bells that should be going off in the back of your head? They should be getting louder now.I'm into religion, and my religion teaches "The Earth is but one country and mankind it's citizens".
Where are the boundaries between what is moral and immoral, right and wrong, if anyone can claim to be a prophet of a god and does whatever comes to his mind. To believe someone is from God, one must first understand what the purpose of this God is, His, attributes...etc. Then you would be able to know if a given person is the Messenger (Prophet) of this God or not. There is only one fact about everything in this universe. e.g. a ring is either made of gold, or silver. We cannot claim it may be made of gold to some person and silver to another. The fact is it is either this or that, regardless of what others perceive it. Having said that, Mohamed is either a prophet of God or he was not. This is decided by how he conducted himself and the attributes ...etc of the god that sent him...etc.I_are_sceptical said:They were legally married. Period. Secondly, it happened 1400 years ago. I'm not allowed to protest the considered views of a government. I am required by my religion to obey. If I feel the govenment's policies are not in line with God's Will, prayer is my only recourse.tulc said:...as long as those in authority don't tell me it's OK to kill them? True. Just remember that in New Testament times, and for two thousand years after, the Jewish people have not seen Jesus as their Messiah. IMO that is a crystal clear warning to Christians to be very careful about who they reject as a new prophet from God.Farid said:Where are the boundaries between what is moral and immoral, right and wrong, if anyone can claim to be a prophet of a god and does whatever comes to his mind. I agree. Jesus told us to beware of false prophets. And, we follow Jesus. That means, we follow what He said!I_are_sceptical said:True. Sounds like you're talking to Jehovah witnnessesI_are_sceptical said:This is the only part of your lengthy post that relates in any way to my question. What is meant by exclusivity? It seems to me that whenever Christians talk about it they are saying that all other religions are false.
The Christians who walk up to me on the street, and knock on my door, and tell me God wants me to change my religion.[/font]

What do these verses mean Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.Farid said:This is why alot of muslims are eager to kill themselves and others with them, because they will get what other cannot get, the 70 virgins.
The simple proof that islam forced it way into the world is what happen in history. When the islamic army was capable to conquoring, they entered the country during the Fath (Opening, of the country) and then after defeating the people of this country, 3 options are offered, they convert to islam, they pay the Gezia (tax) which was disabling, or be killed by the sword. as for the battle of badr, teaching 10 children how to write was a smart political decisin from mohamed, as to gain more intellectual power when his religion was still growing.
He didnn't say there wouldn't be anymore real ones though. Even after the new Testament was wriitten,, i'm not necesarily talking about mohammed but there are modern day prophets.Bevlina said:I agree. Jesus told us to beware of false prophets. Mostly, yes. But the Campus Crusade for Christ was quite active in my city in the mid-1980s, and I recently ran into some people from an Assembly of God church going door to door on my street.markie said:Sounds like you're talking to Jehovah witnnesses
True markie, but we can always discern a false prophet from a real one, thanks to Jesus!markie said:He didnn't say there wouldn't be anymore real ones though. Even after the new Testament was wriitten,, i'm not necesarily talking about mohammed but there are modern day prophets.
