• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

She is not a source as The Source (God) but by sharing His holliness she became a source of His holiness. We belive this of all christians.

I guess a better way of sayint it would be that she became a channel of His holiness.

Wich is something that all christians are. We are all a channel of HIs holiness. We can decide to be a channel or not.

Peace
okay... then why is she held higher than others for that exact reason?

Well, I just want to see if we can agree on one thing:

Don't you think both Cath's and Pros', that lessons can be learned from her life like that of any moral person in the Bible who was favored and chosen of God? Because I do.

Because there is no greater channel of grace then the one who brought Jesus into this world.

She brought into this world an infinity of grace.

Peace

Okay, well I personally believe that the greatest channel of grace is Jesus.

Of course.

We can learn from any person in the Bible.

Yeah, that's true. In fact your post made me think. Actually, any lesson can be derived from any person in the Bible, both good and bad. I just wouldn't want to emulate the "villians" of the Bible, like Jezebel for example. But you can still learn where they went wrong and avoid it.

Okay. I'm fine that you disagree, but your post sounds too much like it's something that everyone should agree with. I think it would have been better to say, "Okay, that's fine but this is what I belive," and then start with what you wrote. I think since you're Cath. and I'm Pro. that we will disagree about this. It's natural. But I have to be true to my own beliefs. Like Shakespeare wrote:

"This above all, to thine own self be true."

at the 1973 Int'l conference of the Charismatic renewal at Notre Dame Cardinal Suenen declared "Unity with the Spirit, is unity with Mary, the holy Mother.

So it appears by most Catholic standpoints, YES!
She is a source of holiness...
My POV differs tremendously of course!

Well I must say that I do not agree with the take on Mary being any unity for anything.. :) This takes away from My Lord and I will not give His glory to another...

He is also the LIGHT. ;)

Reve 21:22 But I saw no sanctuary in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its sanctuary. 23 The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb [is] its Light. 24 And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light,

Yeah, but I'm not Catholic. Protestants for the most part don't believe that way. So, it comes down to this:

Are you Catholic or Protestant? If you're Catholic you're going to believe it. But if you're Protestant then more than likely not.

one one side, you say all believers are this, and then the other, Mary is greater.

interesting. Makes me wonder why it's attributed at all, if All believers are these "channels"

We honor Mary because she gave birth to God. There is no greater source of Grace then God.

She was honored above all others to bring into this world an infinity of Grace.

This does not exclude others from being a channel of God's grace.

Peace

true enough.

just a leap from "channel of grace" to "mediatrix of all Graces."
