There is the story about a passionate young evangelist who was witnessing to people during a train journey. While talking to a person with a rather nervous disposition, just as the train was going into a tunnel, asked him, "Are you ready to die?" One has to imagine the terrified screams that resulted!
Egads - the timing! :D

Seriously, though, I'm glad to see this thread finally back on topic - on track! - as it's an important subject.

Yes, of course I ignored the third world "what about ism". I don't live in the third world. My words, again:
You ignore points that show how bad your arguments are. A simple concept you can't understand, the fact that your response is "i don't live in a 3rd world" shows that you are by far illiterate. You can't be argued with because you can't even comprehend your own arguments. There is no way the "what about the third world" is irrelevant, because you raised an issue of catholics supporting establishments that house and "protect" the corrupt, and likewise 3rd world countries (and other demographics as pointed out) do the same with their politicians. How you think this is irrelevant is ridiculous and shows there is nothing intelligent that can be discussed with you.

You are done. You lost. Go ahead and deny it to make yourself feel better. You have more growing and learning to do as an atheist because right now you're atheism is all because "it makes you feel cool" than any form of intellectual reasoning. Not only are you being that dense that you can't understand the arguments you've presented but you've constantly tried to fashion the way you should be responded to because you can't handle points refuting your obtuse posts.

Yes, of course I ignored the third world "what about ism". I don't live in the third world. My words, again:

Again you "what about the third world" - I've told you many times that this is irrelevant and will be ignored. I'm Canadian - you accuse me of supporting bad actors through paying mandatory taxes. Stop using the "third world" to deflect - it just makes you look s*****.

This will be fun for me, but not for you. So, Yes / No question: is Canada part of the third world?
You answer yes - you are wrong and you lose.
You answer no - your Third World arguments are irrelevant and you lose.
You refuse to answer - you cannot defend your argument and well, you lose.

This is why you don't like Yes / No questions. This is why I do like Yes / No questions. Go ahead, Yes, No, or Refuse?

Care to answer the question this time? Why are you so afraid to answer the question? I think I know the answer. To answer the question shows that your accusation is false. So, what will it be: Yes, No, Refuse? Its such a simple question. Why not just put on your "big boy pants" and just answer the question?

Illiterate definition: 1 : having little or no education especially : unable to read or write.
So, wrong again. You keep screaming that I'm wrong, why not just answer the question and prove that I'm wrong? You are so angry that I've shown your claim to be wrong - and an atheist at that. You are backed into a corner and there is no honest way out. So you lash out, claim I'm illiterate, claim I need to feel cool. Simple fact is, you won't answer the question. Again: Yes / No question: is Canada part of the third world? Super simple question. A simple Yes / No answer will clear this up. And yet, your ego will not allow you to answer a basic, simple, explicit, Yes / No question. How dishonest you are. Yes / No, what will it be? I have no supernatural abilities, but I predict that you will not answer the question.

As I predicted. No real surprise. I can hear crickets...

Yes, as shown in the previous posts, particularly the recent one you just quoted. You did not even get the relevance of the 3rd world reference.

I'm focused on responding to you like before because you have been refuted already. You had to make rules as to how to be answered, and then you show over and over again that you can't understand what you are reading. You do not want to accept you've been refuted and dismantled to have made such a nonsense argument that forces you to start judging a lot of other demographics other than religious ones. Just stop. You got your rear handed to you and you are crawling on the dirt trying to get up to continue. Take this as a learning experience.

Just as I predicted (maybe I do have supernatural powers?) you will not answer the question: Is Canada part of the third world?

Go ahead, hand me my rear by answering the question. Your inability to answer this simple question is really revealing. Is Canada part of the third world? Super simple Yes / No question. Come on, you can do it - just answer the question. :)

This is getting really silly.

I super duper agree. Canada is not part of the third world - Cis.jd just needs to admit he is wrong. Pretty sure he won't. Obviously, an apology would be out of the question.

At first I wasn't sure what you were referring to, but then I remembered I had placed a filter on this thread to silence the long drawn out and off-topic train-wreck that, at this point, left me with nothing more to say other than a rather pointless "get a room, already".

Meanwhile - regardless of the silly fighting going on, and regardless of religious objections, the right to assisted suicide is legal in many countries. So it's quite a mute question regardless of the opinions here.
So it’s legal in many places to kill yourself, which does not address whether it’s wrong to want to die. Just that it’s legal.

Hey. Yes, it is legal to kill yourself in more and more places / countries. I find your use of the word "just" interesting. Not to put words in your mouth, but it seems that you are saying that it is "wrong" even though "legal". It seems like your default position is that suicide is wrong. Why, if this is your position, would you default to wrong?

Yes, it is wrong even where it is legal. And that because our lives are given to us by God and are not ours for the taking. I guess that doesn't work for an atheist, eh?

Its legal so its fine. That you choose to demonize them and their family for wanting to ease their suffering, is your choice. But in my country, along with many others, your view is not accepted by the overwhelming majority. Throwing Gods name around wont change that - particularly one that frequently demanded the slaughter of men women and children.

Correct. So if it is wrong for you but not wrong for me, where do we go from here?

There is no place to go, unless of course there is something after the grave after all. You stake more on your certainty on that than I do.

Thank you for telling me that I am demonizing people. As in turning them into demons. You give me such power. But I really do not have that ability in real life. Sounds like any mention of something you disapprove of you can call demonizing. Funny that.

What I mean by "where do we go from here?" is how should we determine if suicide is right or wrong? Do you think that just because the bible says it is wrong that should carry any weight for non-christians? It seems that we need some other method. I'm a big fan of bodily autonomy - my life, my body, my choice. I'm not a fan of others trying to dictate what I can or cannot do based on whatever their religious text says. I mean, first you would have to pick a single religious text that would then apply to all - that is not going to happen.
