Well i think you have to be careful what you watch and read and liesten to.Kind of like the old saying ,you put garbage in you get garbage out.But i dont think you will go to hell just because you read one of his books.I think if thats what you like and as long as gods not telling you to stop go for it.I used to read his books all the time but now i find im more intrested in christian material,i just enjoy it more.
I wouldnt reccomend a christian to read kings books or see his movies but i cant tell someone what or what not to read, all i can do is give my opinion. So is it wrong? not nesacarly but i dont think its a good idea for a belever to.In my opinion its a inventation to allow spirits and things into the home and eventually take you to places you dont want to go.So id pray about it and be led by the lord on what to do.When i got saved i got rid of all those types of books and replaced them with books that can help me as a christian walk and things like that.

I meant the work he does, his books and movies. I absolutely think that are awesome! I have never read anything so detailed as his work...so wordy, and creepy! I love it! ;) I think maybe you can get too deep into liking him...but I think reading it isn't that bad. I was just wondering cuz I heard a few people say it was ungodly...but not everything that is ungodly is satanic, right? Well...just thought I'd reply!

Thanks,

-Heather

P.S. Anyone like The Secret Window movie? [Have you read the book? I haven't is it better than the movie?]

I guess your question is supposed to encompass the religious aspect only, like in "is it wrong for a Christian to read this".

Well, Stephen King's novels are mere entertainment, and as a fan of REAL literature, this makes it impossible for me to like his "work", which is pretty amateur stuff.

I LOVED his books when I was a teenager, though. I always read them on vacation, if Finnland, which is pretty similar to Maine as far as the landscape is concerned.

bury your head in the sand??!??!??!?!!!!!!!???? Huh...you saying that he is demonic or somthing? I think he is mere genius. His mind goes so far! It is amazing! He puts a lot of things I sometimes think of when I am writing into a book. It rocks, to me!

It's literature. Nothing wrong with reading it. The more you read the better. While I personally have a hard time reading some of his stuff - I find it isn't consistant in the plot, meaning it starts boring then picks up then drops off again and keeps doing that. I would prefer to it to be more consistant and be able to keep my interest. I have a fair amount of his books and i don't mind them. Not the best I've read, but they are ok...

But ya there is nothing wrong in reading them.

Honestly my opinion of King as a writer is not high, but I don't think there's anything wrong with reading him. Of course I'm of the opinion that nothing you read can possible be harmful, because anything you read that's true can't be wrong, and anything false looses to the truth.

I meant that people who are against reading stuff like Steven King have their head buried in the sand.....

If you like crafty and descriptive authors, you might wish to give Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series a try. It isn't of the horror genre; its more along the same lines as Lord of the Rings. Quite an awesome read in my honest opinion!

For those of you who say it's wrong because it keeps you from reading better things. Well....that is NOT true. I am one who can read FIVE books at a time...30 minutes minimum a day with each and not get mixed up. So....I can read my BIBLE, Frank Peretti, Biblical Foundations for the Pentecostal Beliefs, Stephen King, and last but not least my devotions. I mean, come on! It is NOT in ANY FORM taking from my prayer or Christian time. I think your point is mostly, if not completely invalid. So...sorry. Get another one to put King down...that one won't work!
