What does this mean?

Do you mean that God tries and fails? Or do you mean Paul tried to reach them and he (Paul) failed? Who is the "He" in the statement?
The HE is God.
God did not fail.
MAN failed.
God tried to tell us in every way what He wanted from us...
It's US that would not listen and obey Him.
Jesus was the last revelation.

The Jews also have Talmudic laws about how to do Sabbath observance from sundown Friday til sundown Saturday, the seventh day of the week on the Hebrew calendar. There are 39 types of work forbidden on the Sabbath. It was against the law to light a lamp or candle on the Sabbath. While I was touring Israel, I read an English language web site on the Israeli Internet that stated turning on a light switch on the Sabbath is forbidden because it is like lighting a candle on the Sabbath. Orthodox neighborhoods in Jerusalem put temporary barricades across their streets to block traffic on the Sabbath. The ambulance service operates, but the buses do not. Some non-religious Jews drove on Sabbath, but these might be ostracized by religious Jews. At a hotel near Ben Gurion Airport the elevators stopped on every floor during Shabaht (Sabbath). This was because the Orthodox rabbis decided pushing an elevator button is work.

In Matthew 3:1-6 Jesus went into a synagogue and healed a person on the Sabbath. The Jews objected to this as physician's are not supposed to heal people on the Sabbath. The punishment for working on the Sabbath is stoning the person to death as recorded in the Torah. Another time Jesus and his disciples broke the Sabbath by gleaning wheat from a field. The poor were allowed to gather some grain for themselves in certain parts of a grain field, but they were not allowed to do this on the Sabbath.

The law is not perfect as parts of the Torah are comprised of the laws made by men that were not given by God.

God is the same the world over.
No use to continue this conversation.
You could check it out with your individual church.

P.S.
Just to be clear...
He would have NOT wanted children BEFORE getting married and LIED just to get married.

NOT that he changed his mind later...

Hi Deacon Dean,
I know monks who are under the categories you have listed.

They believe they sin.

The as yet "future" Pope, Peter sinned at least twice after the crucifixion and Pentecost. One time he was guilty of disobeying God, and one time he was guilty of hypocrisy.

The Apostle Paul was guilty also. He was guilty of reviling a high priest (the Temple was as yet, not destroyed) and also was guilty of disobeying the Holy Spirit.

And here we are some 2100 years later. If both Peter and Paul could not make it just a few years without sinning, what makes people think we can do something that no man in history has done, or will ever do?

God Bless

Till all are one.

I think you've misunderstood me.
I said we CAN sin.

we are NOT the Lord Jesus Christ, so your argument is moot!

We are CHRISTians - images of the Word of God. The Most High God wrote the Word of God on our hearts - that isn't a metaphor; we don't need tablets or ink to know what is right or wrong for the Most High God (just like antediluvian Hebrews.)

God demands perfection, and the Word of God told us that whoever does the will of His Father is His brother and sister.

Sanctification is a process, but you have to actually find joy and reason with following the word of the Most High God.

If the ten commandments are read at face value and nothing added to them by fanciful theology then keeping them may be possible or at least may have been possible in the times that immediately followed their first proclamation.

Sorry, maybe just semantics, but God does not "try" anything. "Try" implies a potential for failure. What God says, He does. God is successful in everything single thing He decrees.

The reason man does not listen is because he (man) is not the elect of God. God's calling on the elect is effectual. Man does not have any power to overrule God.

The Sabbath was made for MAN. I don't remember Him saying it was made for JEWS. Sunday is fine for worship and to remember the resurrection, but it is NOT THE Sabbath. MANY times in the NT, the Sabbath was kept. Do not add or subtract from the Commandments... Matthew 5:19

A repentent sinner living in faith, and praying for God's grace can be given the grace to comply with the 10 commandments, which are actually pretty natural and are supported by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in our conscience. It is the smaller, or what we would call venial sins in the Catholic faith that Christians find themselves falling into after being forgiven of all previous sin, and entering Christian life. But yeah....in a grace filled life, in cooperation with God, one shouldn't be compelled to break any of the big 10. Not only is it possible with God's grace, but it should be the normal assumed state of authentic Christian life. Does it happen anyway? I imagine it does, but even then, the faithful Christian can retain salvation by repentance and a true turning away from the sin when we fall.

"Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath" (Colossians 2:16)

So WHO is he speaking about? Who was passing judgement? The Jews who also keep them or the pagans who didn't?

You fail to realise that till the cross the OT Law stood. After this it had no bearing on salvation. See Galatians and Romans
