A disease that targets the lungs will presumably damage them reducing oxygen supply in blood. i assume blood clotting, lack of oxygen to brain is symptomatic of this. Just wondering if there are ways to oxygenate blood without lungs or ventilators, some sort of oxygen pill

You can put an arterial line in and oxygenate the blood via what is effectively an artificial, external lung, which is what they do, for instance, during heart & heart/lung transplants. A pill isn't enough (nor does it exist), because not only do you have to get the oxygen in, you have to get the co2 out, and it has to be done via the blood.

Conspiracy theories?
The idea that "stats for covid19 never stop in an apparent attempt to create fear and panic!" is classic conspiracy theory.

You can listen to the MSM's dire covid-19 news everyday, languish in and feed your fear of it if you like...
I prefer to take simple precautions to reduce my personal risk and the risk to others - as I do for many other common risks.

God tells me He has not "given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."
Of course he does - or is it the bible, that source of reassuring pablum for all occasions...?

Absolutely. I have always spent as much time as possible indoors, well away from any windows. In consequence I haven't even come close to being struck by a meteorite. You know it makes sense.

Having gotten into a debate on the weekend with an antimasker I became more aware of an argument doing the rounds about how covid19 is no more deadly than flu.

Reading up on this I found this article from national geographic which suggests covid19 is 50-100 times more deadly.

How scientists know COVID-19 is way deadlier than the flu

But the death rate seems to have declined considerably since this article was written, possibly due to a new awareness of asymptomatic infections due to extensive testing. My latest readings are that the Infection-Fatality rate for Flu is <0.1% and that of covid19 somewhere between 0.65% and 1.46%. This would make covid19 between 6 and 15 times more deadly. Add in a longer incubation time and higher natural Reproduction rate and the disease is clearly far more of a threat.

Does any body have any more recent research on this? How would you argue with someone who thought that the science did not support the view that covid19 was more deadly?
What flu are you talkin about? how fast a flu kills someone might reduce how many people it can kill. But the Spanish Flu that came from China did manage to kill a lot even though it could kill some in 2 hours.

Flus have made me feel close to death. Covid was a minor sickness that gave minor damage to my lungs. Covid is extremely contagious. if you live with someone that gets it you will most likely get it. I haven't left the house but a handful of times since the pandemic, have not gone anywhere since April 1st and I don't leave my room very much and I still caught covid.

on the other hand some people are worrying so much over covid that it's making them sick with nervousness and stress.

Why are you people unjustly trying to compare covid to the flu when most people have flu vaccinations?

The flu is more deadly than covid-19 because it's still around even though we have a vaccine because it morphs to fool our immune systems antibodies.

Compare the flu to covid-19 when covid-19 has a vaccine like the flu does.

If you want more oxygen breathe through your nose. you get 20% more oxygen that way. There are better and worse ways to breathe.
