Your opinion is the equivilant of saying the moon is made of cheese, its dead wrong. An opinion is saying that you dont think a movie was very funny. An opinion is not stating things as fact which are absolutely false. And yes, you have said many things to offend many people. You have called christians who dont condemn the Wiccans in the manner that you do pony tailed Wiccan lovers and have taunted the Wiccans by saying they talk about their great potions and stuff. This is most certainly flaming and offensive.

I've been reading the posts and trying to stay as updated as possible as to the information that is being given and the questions being asked by both sides. My question is this: You call upon the God/Goddess in order to do spells/prayer, what have you. But do you do anything else for/with your God/Goddess other than just spells/prayers? Like, do you talk to them, let them know things that are going on in your life? Are you able to go to your God/Goddess with your problems, pains? What is the main reason for having a Goddess? Just to get in touch w/nature? I think you should be able to feel loved by the God/Goddess that you serve. Can you honestly say to yourself "I believe that I feel loved by the God/Goddess that I serve"?? Can you say that? I'm not trying to offend anyone, I'm just asking questions as they come to me. But I really want to know.
This is actually a good question. Yes, we do interact with our gods outside of spells. Rituals at eight times of the year called the Sabbats honor them in their various forms. Also, I frequently talk to my god and my goddess in the same manner as I talked with God when I was a Christian. I do personally have faith that they love me and cherish me because I am their creation, and more so because I have chosen to live a good life and try to serve them. Truely my views of Deity have changed only the way I view Deity's persona, not the way I interact with Deity or believe in Deity's relationship with It's creations.

Whitehorse: Divine energy within a person is blank. It's colorless and all colors. It's great for certian things, but not all people have attained the level of energy working prowess that permits the programming of this energy (as it is very pure and hard to shape). Items in nature come with energies that are already programmed by the Divine. (Water has cleansing energy that aids flowing, Fire can be destructive and be used to 'burn' out a negative energy, Earth is a stabalizing energy that is excellent for encouraging growth --growth of money, plants, love, just growth, and so on. Additionally certian plants and stones have different pre-programmed energies as well) As an analogy I'd compare it to cooking. Sure, I can make everything from scratch and it will take all day, but I might not know how to make everything well and so it will turn out how it turns out. Or I could use a few pre made items in the recipe and then I have more time to give attention to the parts of the recipe I do well and am certian I can manage from scratch. Does that make any sense? (I'm really tired this morning from the holidays and I've only slept 8 hours out of the last 72)

Mr. Preacher. Please, if you would, go back and read my post about wiccans and witchcraft. Also, we don't worship the Devil :) thanks.

More questions? (I must admit I love answering them. It reminds me that there are still people out there who, while they don't want to practice the craft, at least want to get the facts straight before they speak about it to others :) )

**Hope everyone had a good Christmas

To all those who are Wiccan/s,
Please take my question at face value. (It is not meant in sarcasm):

Why do you come to the Christian forum/s? (Again, there is no hidden message in this question asking you to leave). Is it because you enjoy the debate? Is it because many other Wiccans come here as well? Do you come because you enjoy the interactive conversation between different faiths-- and non-faiths (i.e. atheist & agnostics). Do you enjoy the philosophical discusssions?

What is it that you find about Christianforums.com that keeps bringing you back?

Respectfully,
~Sandy

Rapid advancement of discussions due to high traffic flow of this site make it a choice place to interact with others during the work day for me. I also enjoy disscussing religion and I was once Christian so at least I'm able to know what people are talking about most of the time :) Also, it's been a personal mission of mine for many years to dispell un-truths about my own religion where they generally pop up- online. Boards and site are probably the number 1 source of missinformation about my religion and so I putter around trying to remedy that as much as I'm able in a casual fashion. I don't crusade, but I do try to get the problems when the crop up. :)

Respectfully, I have some questions about Wiccan. I will pose these with a few assumptions so that I am able to word my question properly. Please forgive me if I have made an incorrect statement about Wiccan, I am not trying to falsely depict your beliefs.
Please, gently correct me if I am wrong. My questions do not intend to disrespect you.

As I understand it, Wicca is not, or perhaps it is not yet standardized. That is, different people can hold some beliefs that define what is and what is not Wicca.
I assume that there are things that Wiccans would not consider to be Wicca.
If you (Wiccans collectively) have no set of standards for what exactly is Wicca and what is not, how can you define Wicca (other than in some general terms)?

Christianity, Judism, Islam, (for example), each have defined rules of their respective faiths. Because of this, each faith has established of conduct for practicing their faith, defined rules of what is required my man to practice their faiths both to God, and to Man. We have mechanisms for transgressions, depending on faith, forgiveness or conduct which is not forgiven, and the path to follow to be forgiven.

People cannot be impartial judges of themselves. To define us, we need an external judge. The concept of 'sin' is a definition, rules, law, of what is wrong. As I understand it, you judge yourselves for what is an absolute standard. That is a general concept but not specifics. (How can you know absolute truth if you have no concept of sin, based on absolute rules. True, laws and rules must be interpreted, just as justice must be interpreted. If you have no rules (except, perhaps, a few), rather it is (largely) self
interpreted, how can you call iit a religion as opposed to a generalization?

Wiccan's here on this thread had posted that in Wicca, some Wiccans practice 'witchcraft', and some do not. It had been said that you do not have to be a 'witch'
(or are 'witches' - respectfully, 'witch' and 'witchcraft' were your words). I am not calling you a Witch, not because Witch is not in my faith, Christianity, but rather, because I have no idea of what you mean by 'Witch', or 'Witchcraft'. For all that I know, you might mean that a Witch (or Witchcraft) could me (only) chewing gum, and calling gum chewing 'Witchcraft'. I suppose that someone might want to call gum chewing 'witchcraft', and by their chewing gum, they may call themselves a 'Witch'. If you want to go around deluding yourself in to believing that chewing gum was 'Wichcraft'. If I for example, waved my finger over my trash can and had said "abra cadabra, you are now a cow", I would know that I was not serious, was not a male Witch, nor was I thinking about Wicca / Witchraft (or whatever).

Witches are people who intentionally use magic (or other words for magic - forces, energy, ect) to alter the world around them.

As for the generalities of Wicca (and remember, I was a wiccan, but have moved on to general paganism :) ) there is one 'rule' which is the Rede. It's not just 'An it harm none, do as thou wilt' I won't post it here (that might be seen as promotion) but if you type Wiccan Rede into a search engine, you'll find it. That's the basic rule set for Wiccans, and beyond that it's pretty much 'don't hurt people' which works just fine. Certian gods and goddesses have different historic prohibitions but other than that there are no 'sins'.

I'm a eclectic spritualist witch. :) (But I was a Wiccan for about four years :) ) Really there isn't much of a difference, but I've broadened my horizons in directions that fall outside and inside of Wiccan territory so that's where the eclectic comes in (For instance, I've got some Native American Shamanism in my tradition, some Celtic and Welsh influences, but also Eqyptian and Mayan) Also, I define the aspects of the Deity beyond Lord and Lady into individual persona gods and goddesses- something most Wiccans don't generally do often. (I don't do it that often either, but we're going to be splitting hairs soon ;) )

For all the practical purposes of your questions- I'd be Wiccan. But I'm not Wiccan, just slightly to the left (or right or whatever parrallel direction) of Wicca :)

Strange...I was never taught that growing up? I was taught to "love" everyone, not "accept" (correct sp.) them.

I guess this is were you would have to define "accept". Let's go to our buddy Webster.

accept: 1) to take or receive; 2) to receive with approval or favor; 3) to receive or admit as adequate or satisfactory; 4) to respond or answer affirmatively to; 5) to undertake duties, responsibilities, or honors of; 6) to admit formally, as to a college or club; 7) to accommodate or reconcile oneself to; 8) to regard as true or sound; believe; 9) to regard as normal, suitable, or usual; 10) to receive as to meaning; understand; 11) to agree to pay, as a draft; 12) to receive or contain; 13) to receive without adverse reaction.

Sadly all meanings are implied when you "accept" someone. You qualify people lifestyles and actions, when you accept them. This isn't to say you cannot be their friends and love them.

EXAMPLE: You're father is an alcoholic. You love him, but do not accept his being an alcoholic. This does not make you less of a Christian, or wrong.
You don't accept his being an acholic, it does not mean you don't accept him.

And to be quite honest, most of those things in the dictionary are pretty much saying how a Christian should act to everyone.

PS. Merry Christmas
I did read what happened before that. I also saw that you were flaming people WAY before you were ever called an a-hole and think it is a bit rish of you to get insulted about that when you yourself are saying plenty of things to insult people.

Dont feed the trolls!

It depends how you define that. If you mean I want to make wiccieeeen loving pigtail movie watcher Christians look bad. Then your right I do! I don't know any moral Christians who promote Wiccan and are'nt living in sin!!! Ever heard of debate, I wish you'd do it on this forum instead of talking about your great potions!!!
What in the HECK are you talking about? Why do you keep mentioning potions? You seem to be in love with the word. No one here is talking about ANY potions so drop it.

You really need to look back at your posts and see how disgusting your posts have been.

So you seriously need to chill before you start something you cannot finish.

Considering that the basic requirment of Wicca is do no harm, and as a Wiccan you are supposed to be kind, would it be moral?
I would just like to mention that Christians believe Jesus Christ is the only way, citing John 14.6. I could not find this verse on the search engine. There are more but this is the main one.

"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes unto the Father but by me"
- Jesus

Okay, getting back on track (since the flamewar thread has already been established so everyone go flame there, please so we don't hijack this thread), I'm wondering why wiccans need tangible objects to harness energy within them that is part of the divine...

Blessings,
Whitehorse

Hi, Havoc. I understand wicca is quite diversified, which would only make sense given the basic philosophy of the religion. Do you use objects in harnessing energy? Or do you harness energy? What is your experience like? Do you use magic? Or is it magick-some people spell it that way. Or majick, I've seen...

I have some more questions.........Since when did God have/get a wife?? Why, if wicca pretty much puts most of the emphasis on the Goddess, does there need to be a God then? What does it mean to "invoke" a diety? Is it true that you control the God/Goddess when you do spells? Why would one want to become wiccan?
