Is being single a blessing?

Blessing is an interesting word...

I would not say that being single is a blessing. Being single is about learning yourself - and by extension God. Learning is not a simple nor a part-time task. Being single is about learning the things you need to know to build the foundation of who you will be without the influence of someone else.

That is how I see it anyway.

it depends on what you want out of life I guess. at times I think being single is so unfair (coz i'm a hopeless romantic who would rather be in a relationship right now that be alone)... but I've realised that being single is in fact a BLESSING. our lives are lived in phases / certain seasons. the phase I am in right now calls for a lot of service, and I am glad to be free to serve. If i were married then my focus would be on my husband and family. so yeah, being single at this point in time is a blessing, just like getting married in the future will ne a blessing too.

Definitely a curse, not a blessing. It felt like God force me to consume excreta and expect me to enjoy it. It felt like a prison that i cannot get out of, it felt like being part of a struggle that i don't want to be. If God call me to be single for life, i am not answering. I will find whatever it takes to get rid of this curse.

I don't have the resource or will to go on mission trips, forcing me to stay single would not change this fact. So i don't know, i am still waiting or looking for a spouse of my own. Like i said, not answering to the call of singlness.

If you feel this way then I highly doubt you're called to a life in celibacy.
I mean curse is a heavy word to use...

I have been single my whole life, but I never have been the type to feel cursed because of it. I don't understand why anyone would feel cursed or view themselves poorly because they aren't in a relationship. I don't get the incredible amount of energy spent on needing to be in a relationship immediately. Why the rush? Why be so desperate? I have never once felt desperate to be in a relationship so I just don't understand the mindset.

TBH, I feel that my singleness is mildly a curse or punishment at times.

That's what i felt like, I was being punished by God for the sins i have committed.

It all depends on the spouse, you might have married

Apostle Paul told that being single is better....But Paul is also describing a spouse that would have dragged you down into worldliness.

If you married someone that brought you closer to God, that would be considered a blessing over singleness.
