Why am I having deja vu after reading through this thread? It reminds me of a poster awhile back we labeled spambot.....................
My opinion, which maybe isn't worth muchcan you still call yourself a Christian if you lean toward the Messianic view that the Torah is still in effect? or does Christianity mean the "abolition" of the Torah? that is part of the reason why I can't sport an icon as of late, I don't know what to do.
My opinion, which maybe isn't worth muchis that believing that the Torah is still in effect doesn't negate one calling oneself a Christian. If you accept that Jesus is the messiah, then you are a Christian. Observing Torah or not should not affect that.
I think that your opinion is worth a lot and what you say is true. Shalom. My opinion, which maybe isn't worth muchis that believing that the Torah is still in effect doesn't negate one calling oneself a Christian. We will get tied up in terminology here so I'll try and be as inclusive as I can:
I do not believe that you can be a Christian / Messianic, in the true sense of the word, unless you attend a congregation / fellowship (Messianic or Christian) and are an active member of that community if you are able to be so (being housebound, or suffering from illness or having a disability may limit, or severely restrict, some people from being active members of the community)
the basic tenets of Christianity are not accepting that Jesus was the promised Jewish Messiah, but a savior from sin and that there was a New Covenant which didn't require following the Torah.
I see what you mean. Thank you. Shalom, according to our SOF it is effected, so this is going against what we believe here.

unfortunately I think Lulav has a point even though I like ChavaK's point of view too.My opinion, which maybe isn't worth muchis that believing that the Torah is still in effect doesn't negate one calling oneself a Christian. Which presumably both Christians and Messianics believethe basic tenets of Christianity are not accepting that Jesus was the promised Jewish Messiah, but a savior from sin and that there was a New Covenant
That does not negate the fact that accepting Jesus as messiah/savior means that Messianics/Christians have a shared faith-which centers on Jesus.which didn't require following the Torah.
I think perhaps you should not be so worried about a proper icon or title....use which ever you feel more comfortable with and whichever you feel reflects your faith better.I'll put an icon back, like I used to have, for very simple reasons of believing Jesus is all the things that Christianity says He is, but not because I believe that the Torah is null and void.
Saying Messianics are Christians goes against the SOF here?according to our SOF it is effected, so this is going against what we believe here.
I believe in Jesus but I would never consider myself Christian.Saying Messianics are Christians goes against the SOF here?
I believe in Jesus but I would never consider myself Christian.
Because a Christian is somebody that has a worship system built on Babylonian traditions. Christians are against the law, against the Jews, and against most of what I believe.why?

These are my opinions of course, But the Jesus I worship looks nothing like the Jesus that the majority of Christians worship.
If somebody asked me if I'm a Christian and I say,'' yes'', they automatically stick Christmas, easter, Sunday Sabbaths, the gaining of wealth teachings right on my back.
Most of the Christians who know me think I'm pretty much antichrist and I think the same of them.
The truth will out, as it is said.
