The Monroe Doctrine discouraged European powers from interfering in the Americas... it would be an interesting thought exercises to imagine how South and Central America would be different today had the European powers continued to pursue colonization in South and Central America.

The amount of intelligence to know who to kill and why as well as how to do it with the least amount of pain to the decedent or collateral damage to those who aren't being targeted is quite a bit more than you realize. And without patriotism there is no reason to put yourself in harms way to protect those of us who are keeping the households and businesses running while you're away. Professional killers are just that, professionals trained and accomplished. Without intelligence and patriotism they'd not exist.

Of course one should only consider those wars where we are defending ourselves, or discouraging attacks. No others are to be considered? Why?

It was a US territory, the fleet was American. What else do you need?

Although, interesting fact, the first shot of the Pearl Harbour action was actually a US ship firing on, and sinking, a Japanese submarine. Yes, the sneak attack was already underway at the time, the Japanese planes were already inbound (though as yet undetected) but its still interesting that, to say the least, the Americans were already prepared to fight, the "sneak attack against a peaceful, non-beligerent innocent nation" is a bit of a myth.

Your ignorance of Canada is astonishing. Other than the fact we are your largest trading partner, sell you the most oil, and the USA has its sights on our water, we have the most fresh water in the world.....just a couple of things for you. We have more resources than almost any other nation.
