Some of the familes have issued lawsuits against the government. I can see those familes may have a good case in law and their lawyers will push for as much as possible. The government will try to pay as little as possible. Whether that means a payment upfront instead of the cases going to court remains to be seen. It's quite common for the plaintiff to be offered an amount which might be less than a court might award but which is guaranteed. As opposed to risking everything on a court decision.

The United States has never locked children up in adult prisons just because their parent is arrested. It's not an easy question to answer, but the Brooking site has lots of facts and figures that can be used to determine a reasonable answer. Not just hearsay. Not just someone saying 'it's lots'. How many undocumented immigrants are in the United States and who are they?

You characterize a legal case holding government accountable for intentionally separating children from their parents as a frivolous lawsuit?
