Where's Susan?

/me is right here. :)

I've been pretty busy lately. Sorry I didn't respond sooner.

My complaint was denied. They (the people reviewing the case) said that although I do have basis in my complaint, I don't have enough specifics. I can't remember who witnesses were to the specific actions, nor can I remember specific dates. I used to be dead-set against taking notes about things that went on at work, as I thought that was going into the situation expecting the worst, and I wanted to be optimistic.

I finally started keeping a notebook maybe a couple months ago... In reality, I should've been keeping one for the past five years.

In the mean time, things have gotten so bad with management, that the union president (who is based in D.C.) is now aware of our airport, and of the stuff that the manager is pulling. He sent a team of investigators to our tower, and they are going to file grievances left and right against the manager to get him to shape up. So far (in three days time), they have filed nearly 500 grievances. They also wrote up a letter asking our manager's boss to investigate our work place, to see if it's a hostile work environment. They cc'd the letter to the boss, his boss, his boss, her boss, and his boss. So we're definitely in the spot light right now.

I of course have the right to go formal with my complaint, even though it was denied in the informal stage, but at this point in time, I just don't have the energy to push it.

The whole course of events wore me down - I was pretty low for a while. I ended up going to see my doctor, and he put me on anti-depressants. Now because I'm on the medication, I can't do my job. I have lost my medical, and am doing administrative work indefinitely. It will likely last nearly a year. So this means that I work almost normal hours now. Monday through Friday, 8-4pm. Holidays off. :D The bad news is, is that I'm not guaranteed this position. This means that if they decide that they don't have administrative work for me to do, that I may be with out a job.

On top of all this... I've been having car problems. I had to have it towed to the shop twice in the past three weeks, have had to get three rental cars, and have paid over $700 to get my car fixed.

I finally caved in and bought a new car last night. I'm so excited. It's the car (truck) that I've wanted for a couple years, and I finally have it. :) It's great to have a/c, and it's nice to have a good stereo and a CD player in my truck. :)

The bad thing is, is that I've taken a pretty hard financial hit. I took a week of leave without pay to take care of myself, and spent $700 on my car, then turned around and bought another car. :holy:

So... That's what's been going on lately. It took me quite a while to get all my thoughts down, and to remember all that's gone on since the last time that I gave you guys an update... That's why I kept putting it off. :D

Feesh - That guy that I know that moved to STL (the cool Lutheran) gave me the go-ahead on giving you his phone number... So I'll PM that to you tomorrow. I'm too lazy to do it tonight. ;)

Tonight is the meeting about the ELCA youth gathering.
I went to Des Moines yesterday. That drive made me tired.
I ended up not going to church. I was all ready to go, went to get in the JEEP, and realized I had gained enough weight that it prevented me from sitting in the dress I was wearing. I didn't have time to change and make it to church on time.

The theme for this week at PACES is "Walking on the Moon." I got research material to use. The kids get to make replicas of the planets in our solar system. I have a DVD with a little footage of the first lunar walk.

I'm going to continue working at the pizza place on Wednesday evenings only. It's enought to keep my 20% discount and seniority. (as if I need the seniority)

As a side note to this weight thing... I'm going to make an appointment to have my thyroid checked. Last month, for about a week, I had difficulty swallowing. (I had this occur for three days a month previous to this, too) My throat didn't hurt except when I swallowed. I didn't run a fever. My neck felt swollen. Since my mom and one of my sisters has had thyroid problems, I'm going to get mine checked. My sister had her thyroid removed, actually. :p

Lighthearted - I'm so sorry. You are right, not having a diary will probably make proving your case much more difficult. I am happy that you are taking care of yourself, which is most important. Praying that the upper level investigations lead to results that will help you keep your job.

Phoebe - praying about the Thyroid. The PACER's project sounds like fun!

Good luck...I hope whatever part of Iowa you're in has good hospitals...otherwise Cedar Rapids has 2, and Iowa City has the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics...

Thanks, Feesh. The team that came to the tower to help ended up filing about 500 grievances. Knowing that the manager has his hands full at the moment is kind of comforting. :D

The doctor said that it looks like I'll be on the medication for a minimum of nine months.

Does anybody want to come to the Quad Cities in August? Third Day will be playing on August 12. They're my favorite Christian band, and I can't think of anybody that I know in the Quad Cities that would want to go see them with me. :(

I'll probably be able to get to the doctor sometime in the next two weeks, before school is out.

My dad is in the hospital. On Wednesday night, he was having great difficulty breathing and he told my mom to call 911. When they ran tests, they found out his lungs were full of fluid, and that he'd had a heart attack some time ago. He was put on a ventilator. (intubated) When I went to see him Friday evening, I found out that his kidneys had weekened also. (I didn't know until I got there that he had been put on the ventillator/ respirator.) On Saturday, his kidneys showed some improvement, and on Sunday afternoon, we was taken off the respirator.

In the last few days, three members of our congregation lost a parent. We have another member that has cancer and isn't expected to live much longer.
