  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I sure hope I'm not the mystery "byzantine dude", there aren't too many of us that fit the description. ^_^

Nah, you're not! I defended you somewhere up there.

I do remember another Catholic who came in with "Byzantine" as part of his name, and immediately started challenging Orthodox beliefs.

I just don't remember the rest of his name. But it wasn't you. :p

That's a relief. :holy:

I'm like Anhelyna, I will just let God be my guide, knowing that I also have the free will to push myself.

Right now I am firmly a member of the UGCC, but my journey is far from over.

I need to start my own "introducing myself" gurney thread...

My name is gurns. I like watching Sons of Anarchy, lemon bars, driving Ford F250's, naming myself after Dune characters on the internet, the color purple, Walking Dead, reading about schisms, peach pie, and hate the Dodgers!

That pretty much sums it up! :p

Hmmm, we should all do that. Probably on a new thread though - I'm not sure if Erth would mind and we've hijacked him pretty thoroughly thus far. ;)

My name is Anna, I like watched old TV programs much more than new ones, dark chocolate and nuts, driving my old mustang on well-banked curves, naming myself after - stuff I made up myself, lol, the color purple among many others, the Walking Dead was good, reading the monastics, key lime pie, and I don't hate any sports teams, but don't really rabidly support any of them either. I like to make things with my hands, decorate, dance, grow flowers, play party games, and attend long services at Church, and I used to be addicted to Pinterest (where I have a pretty decent following).

I'll see your dark chocolate and raise you a milk chocolate, counter your Rust-stang with a Dodge Challenger RT, attend any short service I can get my hands on (so far in Orthodoxy I haven't found any! LOL!), rabidly support my San Francisco Giants, Niners, and Warriors, prefer Lemon Meringue to Key Lime, can't dance, and also like old TV shows (but love my Sons of Anarchy, Walking Dead, The Killing, Luther, Prison Break, Lost, Person of Interest, and some other new stuff, ESPECIALLY Breaking Bad and Sons of Anarchy!).

I'm also a big cat-fan, would rather die than watch the Kardashians, am well-traveled, only eat organic, am majorly into gardening, and live in a state that is so dry from drought that we look like a scene from Dune! ^_^:p

Milk Chocolate is yucky. :p I'm standing by my 'Stang (and standing in long services too!). You can have your teams - they're ok. I mostly root for the Saints and used to the Suns. I don't watch a lot of sports, but basketball has more action. ;) Gymnastics and figure skating are more fun for me to watch (but I never really do). I loved Lost, (except the last season or two), you got me to watch the Walking Dead (which I also liked the story but the gruesome factor was a bit much for me) and even about half of Breaking Bad until I got well (thank God!) and don't spend much time watching TV anymore. ;)

I love my kitty. I was always a dog person, but this one flew through the air and landed on me when I was trying to get my daughter a kitten, and she refused to be put down, and she's been by my side ever since (7 years now) - she follows me around like a dog or else races ahead and stands up on the door she thinks I'm about to open and go through (she's lying next to my computer right now making eyes at me). I can't STAND the Kardashians, not particularly well-traveled really but I have been cross country a number of times and along the coasts some - and walked to Mexico once! I would eat only organic if I could afford it, LOL (one reason we decided to have our own farm for a few years), love gardening, and moved from a drought state to one that has MUCH more rainfall and I'm glad for that - at least I don't have everything dying and the water company constantly threatening me.

You remind me to pray for rain for y'all though. :crosseo:
