Again I ask, do you own a Tesla or are planning to buy one to help keep these poor unfortunate auto workers from losing their jobs?QFT - add to that the thousands of middle class auto workers they will put out of a job and the tens, if not hundreds of thousands of workers who have Tesla stock in their 401K that will be effected.
Odd question, given that my comment was basically “this is how things work, so complaining about the process is naive“.What's the alternative to capitalism?
She’s so brave!I will still buy Wheaties

Who was it that loved Teslas? Seemed to me more tech-bro and finance-bro type people who bought into the hype and really loved the overpriced, flashy hipster crap, especially as soon as only a few months ago. The Cybertrucks are more Edselly than Edsels were.
Liberals in general, liked that Teslas were EV, but not so more than other cars. Now, it seems, other EVs have overtaken Tesla in terms of reliability, affordability, driving range, charging time and overall value.
Was it a "liberal elite" or just "elite elite" status symbol?
Was it because you cared about the planet or you wanted to be cool like Elon?
Honestly, I'm not much of a car status person so I don't know/care much about things.
Yeah, somehow I haven't noticed that your "liberal elites" are the ones throwing firebombs. Even anti-Maga doesn't translate to "liberal elite" although the category surely includes some of them.
Elon's current illegal government dismantling has upset some non-liberal elites as well as more than a few liberal non-elites.
It's more than politics. Tesla as a car brand and as an innovative company has lost its luster. Musk and Tesla has been unfavorably compared to Elisabeth Holmes and Enron.
What has the man brought to the object? Hype and marketing as well as a spectacularly badly designed truck.
That part will probably fade out fast in the face of hard prosecutions and newer, shinier objects.
Odd question, given that my comment was basically “this is how things work, so complaining about the process is naive“.
Nope - but I do own Tesla Stock - not as much as Tim Walz or his state workers pension plan - so my money going into the company as an invest helps them -Again I ask, do you own a Tesla or are planning to buy one to help keep these poor unfortunate auto workers from losing their jobs?
But not simply "stock" but stock options, both of which are reportedly leveraged, i.e. borrowed against, up the wazoo such that as the valuation of the stock behind the options drops, the valuation of the options drop even more drastically. A house of cards built on a deteriorating foundation.Again, yes, the majority of his net worth is based on the value of his Tesla stock which is absurdly overvalued.
It's already been debunked - yet some hold onto the lie like grim death!I am serious. It is not a Nazi salute.
Tesla may be losing some market share, but the bottom line is that in terms of the US EV market, no one else even comes close.

Looking at last year's data, it's safe to say that an overwhelming majority of EV sales in the US were Teslas. Therefore it's also safe to say that the typical EV consumer chose Tesla far more than any other EV brand in 2024.
Again, those numbers are shifting, but other automakers still have a long way to go to catch up.
Probably a little bit of both.
Most people who buy EVs at this point do it because they care about the planet. However, that market is becoming saturated, as numerous articles last year showed a significant slowing in the EV market growth.
Neither do I, but I can't help but chuckle at the blatant hypocrisy of people who were yelling at people to buy EVs just a few short months ago because they "care about the planet" now setting fires that are clearly not good for the planet.
I don't know who is throwing fire bombs. I suspect it's a bunch of social justice warriors incapable of controlling their base impulses that have convinced themselves that they are doing good by destroying other people's personal property.
Sure, but I don't think any of them are fire bombing and/or vandalizing Teslas. Maybe they're more involved with the movement referenced in the OP, peacefully protesting, which I have no problem with.
OK. Meanwhile, Tesla sold 160k+ cars per quarter last year while its next closest competitor (Hyundai/Kia) sold only 37k. I'm not sure it's an accurate characterization to say that a brand has "lost its luster" when it outsells its next closest competitor by a factor of more than four. It will be interesting to see first quarter numbers for 2025 in the EV market.
You must be joking. Whether you like Musk or not, he was a pioneer in the EV market.
Nope - but I do own Tesla Stock - not as much as Tim Walz or his state workers pension plan - so my money going into the company as an invest helps them -
How do you feel about him celebrating violence that is doing harm to his states pensioners?
BTW - I don't buy beer - but am not boycotting and never have boycotted them for dressing a man as a woman and almost destroying their company.
I also don't buy Chick fil A very often either - that doesn't mean I boycotted them when the left went after their founder for upholding his Christian values and having the audacity to speak publicly about them!
