  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You can take responsibility for your own life,
you can blame others for the direction it is pointed,
or you can Trust that God has your best
interests in mind no matter what happens.

Dear members of the jury, I, as the defense, have stated quite clearly that God planted my client's DNA and fingerprints at the crime scene. Of course, I need not present any evidence of this because God's actions leave no evidence . . . other than my client's fingerprints and DNA all over the murder victim, of course. All you need is faith in God and you will see this wonderful miracle that God has created.

As a jury member, would you accept that as a rational argument?

A. God wants us to choose faith.

I like A.

Faith is a belief held in the ABSENCE of evidence. There is no absence of evidence for an old Earth. We have literal mountains of proof that the Earth is old. Faith is NOT a belief held in contradiction to the facts.

What God holds together is something governed by the laws of nature he created. So why is it that creationists have to maintain that God acted in all sorts of illogical ways, and then have to override his own natural laws to fix the situation he had created?Creationists seem to believe in a pretty muddle headed God.

You'll need to be more specific before I would have the
opportunity to draw a similar muddle headed conclusion.

Today I will create plant life.
Well, that's a good days work done.
Tomorrow I've got the Sun to cre.....
Oops, I forgot, plant life needs an energy source.
Oh well, until I get around to creating the Sun tomorrow, I will have to use miraculous means to maintain its life.
Silly old me.

But they are both. That has always been God's power to use actual events.

In that case gamma rays are light as well, and so are radio waves. Light generally means electromagnetic radiation in the range 400-700nm.

I didn't say they were light, and what's the beef anyway?

The specific of the Creation process doesn't fit well with a scientific explanation
and it doesn't seem to offer us any insights spiritually either. My conclusion is
the specific order of creation is not the intended message.

What you are requiring God to do is plant fake fossils in the ground and fake stars in the sky. How does that make sense?

First off, please be mindful of our rule concerning blasphemy.

But as to your point, there was already light on Day One. The Sun was not created to provide light.

Isn't that a problem with Genesis? We know that without the Sun locally there would be no light. What would the source of this light be without the Sun?

It's not a problem. The Sun is not necessary for light.

And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb. - Revelation 21:23

Are you saying that the Earth would be lit just as brightly without the Sun?
Brighter would be my guess. But I don't have anything from scripture to say one way or another.

What does that have to do with the topic of this thread, apparent age?

You guess? Because it is written down in a book?

Surely you can understand why we would be skeptical, right?
I'm not concerned with your skepticism. I was just addressing the post.
