Right next to you!!!

Okay I had to add something... I come from a long line of gun owners. I learned to shoot a pellet gun at about 8yo in my granddaddy's garage. My children know how to handle guns and we regularly go out and target shoot (my 10yo hunts with his daddy during chucker season).

That's day to day stuff. I also know that I will protect my family with whatever force necessary!! ;)

Those banners are DISGUSTING.

I say that gun control is a good thing. The US has the highest number of murders for a reason. Guns KILL people. Want to lower the murder rate? Increase gun control. Want to protect the people you love? Increase gun control.

Why anyone would want to own a gun BAFFLES me.

Laura, Guns don't kill people, people kill people. Increasing gun control doesn't keep criminals from getting guns, how many criminals do you think have registered firearms, not many. There are lots of reasons why people would want to own guns, hunting and self protection included. I don't think that the rest of us should suffer because idiots get mad and kill someone with their gun, if they didn't have a gun they'd do it with something else. Otherwise all of the murders committed would be done with guns...right now I think the stats lie with guns at the highest, but blunt force objects right up there with them. Want to protect people you love, teach them how guns work, and that they are not toys. Teach them conflict resolution skills. geez.

We need education, not control. I grew up in a rural area. I was taught from day one to respect the power of a firearm, how to handle one, and how NOT to. I was shown how a gun can be used as a tool for hunting, and to protect oneself and ones family. That is the problem, a lot of people are never introduced to a firearm untill it is used either against them or somone they care about. They only see the misuse of firearms by the minority of people.

I think society needs to do something to change how kids view guns. They see them in movies, in video games, play with toy guns as kids. They think having a gun is cool, or makes them powerful, or it's fun to shoot people...

Oh, yet another gun control thread......

Guns are inanimate objects. An inanimate object will not move unless an outside force moves it, i.e. a person picks up the gun. The inanimate object cannot harm a person in any way UNTIL it is moved by an outside force, i.e. a person picks up the gun, aims it, and pulls the trigger.

A hymn book in my hand is more dangerous than a gun lying on the table.

Oh my gosh, you're right. I say BAN HYMN BOOKS!! Any existing hymn books need to be registered and any new purchases should be limited to 1 a month and a complete background check should be required.

I think women's purses need to be registered, also. They are potential weapons of mass destruction.

Guns don't kill people, people kill people? People with GUNS kill people.

It's true that most criminals aren't going to have registered firearms. What about the kids who take their parents' guns to school? What about the kids who decide to play around with their parents' guns and blow their or a friend's brains out? What about all the "accidental" deaths that happen with registered firearms?

I don't know whether to laugh or be disgusted about the way you guys feel about this.

Also...I find it a little strange that nobody else finds those banners offensive.
