If the Jews, gays, gypsies, etc. had guns... in Hitler's Germany....

If the Chinese had guns... in Mao's China...

If the Russians had guns... in Stalin's Russia....

History would be different.

Thankfully, Americans, our colonial forefathers had guns.

An armed citizenry is the last line of defense against tyranny.

CHALLENGE TO AMERICANS

As you read the Constitution and the Bill of Rights:

(1) Look at the enumerated powers of the federal government;

(2) Look at the express limitations on federal power as set forth in the Second, Ninth, and Tenth Amendments;

(3) Ask yourself, where does the federal government get any power at all to regulate firearms?

(4) Ask yourself, why don’t the high school and college textbooks devote any time to the history, philosophical basis and practical meaning of the Second Amendment?

I support gun control. I have shot a gun many times in the past in a shooting range (normally a large revolver) and immediately had intense respect for it when I first touched a gun.

One thing that I think people need to remember is guns are weapons, weapons designed for one purpose: to kill. I have constantly heard the phrase "guns don't kill people, people kill people." What guns do is they make it ridiculously easy to kill a person. With faced with every weapon but a gun, you have the chance to run away, to escape. With a gun, there is no running away. With a non-firearm weapon, you have a chance in fighting back. With a gun, there is no fighting back.

While I would not hesitate to use a gun in defense if I had to, I would much rather deal with an intruder in a less lethal way and with weapons that are not solely designed to kill. For me, to attack with my body and whatever (non firearms) weapon I might have is far more reliable and less likely to end up with me killing someone.
