Are you on a diet or something? You ask a lot of food questions.

IMO I don't usually buy fast food from fast food restaurants because A. I don't like a lot of the type of food that is served and B. I don't like to waste my money on things I don't truly want or need.

Ah, 1 Tim.2:9 "In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array".

Well, I think that Christian women should dress with modesty. But, I don't think that necessarily means that they should interpret that to mean dresses or long skirts. I choose not to wear shorts or short skirts to church for the same reason I don't wear them to Wal-Mart. I don't think they're appropriate for someone my age. I do however wear dress slacks to church in the Winter time, because it's cold here. And yes, I was brought up in church and was a Biblical fundamentalist up until 2 years ago, so wearing pants, even when it's cold, is still something I feel a little ashamed about doing. But, I have to wonder if God really cares about what I'm wearing when I go to church, or is just happy that I came. And, I like to think my God is not focussing on superficial things like the length of my skirt as much as the sincerity of my heart.

Most of all, I think that what I wear is up to me, not a church. I am after all 44 years old and have been dressing myself for most of that time! And I personally don't like to be treated like a child by a church. It's humiliating to be treated like I couldn't possibly make a good decision if it was left to me.

I think I'm going to take Ivy's advise and lighten it up a little. I'm taking that topic off the table. I'll answer it myself. And will add a lighter subject for whoever comes next.

Christian funamentalism in America...IMO it is better than being luke warm or boring the snot out of people at church. But, fundamentalism often leads to extremism and legalism, which IMO are corruptions to God's intention and can do a great deal of harm if not kept in check.

This is the part where I follow Ivy's advise and ask your opinion about something a little ligher...

About what you wear in church: I was always taught (and I agree) that you should wear your personal best for God. That is all that matters. If my best outfit is a ratty t-shirt and jeans, then that should be good enough. And quite honestly, I don't care what my fellow church goers have to say about my wardrobe. I am there for worshipping God, not for a fashion show. (I needed to put my 2 cents in too. )

Loud commercials...That drives me crazy! It's bad enough I can't hardly hear the show, so I turn it up, then the commercial comes on, and I am getting a headache from the blaring noise! AAAAAHHHH!!!! Gotta love the mute button...

God in school: God is everywhere, all the time. God is in the hearts of our children, whether they be in school, at home or in our churches. There is a great deal of ignorant propaganda about how schools prohibit God. But, that is simply not true.

But, to give my opinion about what I think you're asking... I don't want the public school system to start teaching my children about God. Because to be equitable, they would have to teach them about Allah, Buddhism, Hinduism, and the great turtle that carries the world on it's back not to mention Wicca, Witchcraft, and Atheism. Teach them to read, write and to calculate, to think analytically. Teach them the joy of learning, the art of social interaction. But, Leave the spiritual teaching of my children where the responsibility to God for it resides, to me, thank you very much!

Cell phones and their ability to make you traceable, recordable, and trackable?

I think that the people that worry about if they can be traced are most likely the people that are trying to hide something. Personally, I have nothing to hide, so let them trace, record, and track me. I am sure that doesn't hold solid for ALL people. But those that are really up in arms, I wouldn't be surprised if they are worried about being found out about some illegal dealings they are involved in.

Another thing, it could be useful for, say a kidnapped person, to be able to track them.

Along the same lines, bugging phone lines for suspected terrorist conversations.

I don't own a cell phone because I don't like the whole Orwellian Big Brother infringement on my rights as an American. And I don't buy into the attitude that "if you haven't done anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about" either, because it's naive. Innocence is no guarantee of justice. And believing that, is hanging your hopes on something that in reality, doesn't exist.

I don't believe in bugging for any reason. It was wrong enough when Nixon did it in the 60's and is not, IMO suddenly right now. I think that people accept it, because it makes them feel like they have some control ... But, control is an illusion.

Smoking is bad for your health,offensive,and expensive so it would be hard to find anything in it's favor. I smoked for years and am now smoke-free

Good question. Well, smoking is addictive because the tobacco industry thought it was good business to put nicotine in it. Repeat business and all that. So, I would be for cigarettes being mandated governmentally to prohibit the addictive nicotine additive from being added to any tobacco product. Which would in effect cut down the use of what most intelligent people know is bad for them, but do not have the will or ability to stop using.

I fear that making them illegal all together, would, instead of removing them from public use like one would think, make them more easily accessable in black market venues, like the internet, where how they are manufactured would not be protected by current laws. And therefor may in fact be more dangerous to the consumer.

Overtaxation: As with any other drug dependency, other things would be seen as unnecessary, to pay for the increase in purchasing the nicotine fix. And while charging more money, might work as a deterant for some people. I don't believe it would work for the hard core smoker.

I used to smoke too. I quit because of the change in social attitude about it. I didn't like people feeling justified to be mean to me because I was smoking. It wasn't worth it to me. the other things...were just a nuisance. The smell, the health warnings (which people don't believe will ever happen to them, myself included) and the cost. (they started raising taxes on cigarettes in California about 20 years ago or so) Not even smoking being prohibitted in public places like restaurants, made me decide to quit. It was feeling that in smoking, I was inviting people to be mean to me. And I don't do that. If something I'm doing is encouraging others to be mean to me, I remove the temptation from them. It's all I can do really. I'm not confrontational.

How can you truly expect non-believers to listen to you if you are in the street hollering "Repent, for the Kindom is at hand!" I am a strong believer, but if I see this guy, I am crossing the street to the other sidewalk! I mean, God bless him for trying, but that just scares people away, and in turn, causes a stereotype, where non-believers then think that all christians are fanatical and crazy, and they don't want anything to do with Jesus if that's how things are.
(I hope that is kinda what you meant, otherwise, I don't know...)

stem cell research

From what I understand, there's no need for stem cell research at all, at least there is no need to use human embryos. The same benefits can be gotten from adult stem cells. But even if that wasn't the case, using human embryos is the most grotesque, wicked, inexcusable act. It makes me sick, just sick. (sorry to go ballistic here, but that "Indy" you see by my name means Right to Life)

IMO a loving and attentive parent knows a lot more about how their child ticks than some "expert." It's good to read the books I guess, but they actually can make you project a lot of things on your kid that aren't even there.
