Sunday May 2 I brought a message before the church I attend (pator was on vacation and I am lay speaker) and I spoke to me probably as much as it spoke to the congragation. It was Titled "If you wanna walk on water you gotta get out of the boat." Basicaly I stated that we often put ourselfs in places that make us feel safe and wouldn't even get out of them if Christ was calling us. For 5 years now I have been struggling with a call I have on my life to enter the ministry. For about a year now I have been testing this call and it was that day that I realized this message was for me. I had applyed to Seminary, I had applied for student pastor postions, and I had sought the advice of my wife, pastor, DS, and mentor and still had never run into that moment when I knew it was right.
Short aside recently my wife and I were having problems so I posted a post about it elsewere on this site. One respondant said something like "maybe you should test this call into ministry." I understood why he said it but a sudden fire like the one I felt the day I gave that message burned inside me. I am ready, I have tested the call, I have prayed, prapared, studied, sought advice, and anything I could do to test. But on that day Jesus called Peter to walk on the water did Peter test the water first? No! Peter got out of his boat that minute. Well I am ready to get out of my boat {if you'll excue this expression} no more "pussyfootin" around God here is your humble servant lead me Lord and I will follow.
I am sorry if I seemed preachy and this my not be the best placfe to post this but I had to get it off my chest. Thanks.
