The shut door as stated earlier was what the Millerites were thinking because they expected the 2nd coming then and thought that no evangelism would be done after the 2nd coming - so short delay (as they thought) then the 2nd coming left them supposing no more evangelism for a few months.

Based on the documents from the White Estate, Ellen White (Ellen Harmon in 1844) also believed the door was shut in 1844, but then gradually changed her mind over a period of time.

How and where do you draw a line that separates the Millerites from the SDA?

Can you give the specific text from Daniel that shows an event would occur in 1844?

In 1844 Ellen Harmon was a teenager - a Millerite - and leader of no denomination, rather the obedient child of her parents who were also Millerites, and the Adventist church was about 20 years from organizing into a denomination. As I already stated there was a very short time when the Millerites assumed the door of evangelism was closed - before they entirely disbanded.

You seem to be grasping at straws.

How and where do you draw a line that separates the Millerites from the SDA?

The same way I don't blame the Catholic church for what the Lutheran church does. This seems like the "easy part" - what am I missing??

.

I can show how Daniel 7,8,9 timelines came about in real life - but that is going to be all about prophecy and very little about the vast field of agreement on the subject of the moral law of God that includes the Ten Commandments both in OT and NT - agreement that exists between SDAs and Seventh-day Baptists, Messianic Jews, the "Baptist Confession of Faith", the "Westminster Confession of Faith", D.L. Moody, R.C. Sproul, C.H. Spurgeon, Matthew Henry, Dies Domini, ...

So I am not inclined to post that on this thread. Will start another one.

Starts with the easy part. --

You seem to be grasping at straws.

I was once a deacon in an evangelical Bible church. My wife and I loved the people and they loved us.
However, I started noticing that some of the Dispensational doctrine being taught did not match up with what was in my Bible.

After doing some research I discovered that none of it had been taught at the time of the Revolutionary War.

John Nelson Darby brought the doctrine to America about the time of the Civil War. The basic foundations of the doctrine had been taught by Edward Irving at the Albury Conferences. Irving had gotten much of his viewpoint from the book "Coming of Messiah in Glory and Majesty" written by Jesuit priest named Manuel Lacunza.

When I presented the written evidence to the other deacons and pastors I started getting some arrows coming back in my direction. They could not let go of their man-made doctrine, so they attacked the messenger.

Most Dispensationalists today continue to deny the connections between Darby and Irving and there have been deliberate attempts to keep this history hidden from those sitting in the pews.

Those sitting in the pews of any denomination need to know the history of their body.

The history of the SDA should be an open book to all of those both inside and outside the movement.

Perhaps Paul circumcised Timothy because Paul was afraid of what some of the Jewish Christians would think and say about Timothy. If Timothy had been a Jew, he would have already been circumcised.
Timothy was a Jew -- he had a Jewish mother. However, his father was Greek, and Greeks were notoriously against circumcision.

No, you just misread it. Read it again:

Hebrews 9:26 KJV - For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

Hebrews 9:27 KJV - And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Hebrews 9:28 KJV - So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

The "once" ["once offered to bear sins"] in the "end of the world" is specifically speaking about the "sacrifice" of Jesus Christ, which took place approx 2,000 years ago [aka, two "days" with the LORD ago.] Jesus Christ appeared at the First Advent, after 4,000 Years [aka 4 "days" with the LORD]. Thus He appeared at the end of this world's week, being in the final portion of the Great Week [7 Days, 6,000 Years + 1,000 Years].

Yes, I agree with you that Jesus appeared once 2000 years ago to become our sacrifice to forgive our sins. This was Jesus' first bodily appearance on earth.

Notice that the last portion of Hebrews 9:28, reveals that we [Christians] are to "look for Him" to "appear the second time" "without sin" "unto salvation". The Second Advent is for the collection of the Saints/Christians. Thus they after that point are "ever with" the LORD. They [Christians] do not need to "look for him" a third time, since they are ever "with" Him after that. hence, "Titus 2:13 KJV - Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;"

Jesus' second appearance/advent will be for the gathering of the saints and it will also be for the gathering of the evildoers.
Both of these events will occur when Jesus returns to earth for His second/final appearance at the end of time.

Matthew 13:40-42
Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age. 41 The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, 42 and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Matthew 24:30-32
Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God.
And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.

Please note that the angels accompany Jesus when He returns to earth at the time of His second/final appearance and it is the angels who gather up His followers in the air to meet Jesus in the clouds.

Hebrews 10:27, reveals others looking for something else, which does not take place until after the 1,000 years in fulness, hence the 'third' Advent:

Hebrews 10:27 KJV - But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

Hebrews 9:28
so Christ was offered once [His first appearance on earth] to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time [His final appearance on earth], apart from sin, for salvation.

There is no third advent/coming/appearance of Jesus. When Jesus returns to earth for His second/final appearance, His followers will be saved from the wrath of God. Jesus will command His angels to gather His saints together in the air to meet Him in the clouds on top of Mt. Olivet. Zechariah 14:4, Acts 1:9-12https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Zechariah+14:4&version=NKJV

Jude 1:14-15
Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men also, saying, “Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints, 15 to execute judgment on all, to convict all who are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.

Please note that both the godly and the ungodly will all be together on earth when Jesus and His saints return to earth for His second/final appearance. All people, both godly and ungodly will then be taken by the angels to the great white throne judgment/sheep and goat judgment/etc.

Hebrews 9:28
so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many [2000 years ago]. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.

Christ appeared on earth once so far and that was 2000 years ago. That was His first appearance. He will appear on earth a second time to gather His followers together with Him so that they can be forever with Him. And then, the judgment of all people commences and the earth is destroyed by fire.
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2 Peter+3:7&version=NKJV
2 Peter 3:7
But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

Revelation 21:1
Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea.

2 Peter 3:13
Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

John 5:26-30

For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself, 27 and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man. 28 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice 29 and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation. 30 I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.

There is only one general judgment of both the good people and the evil people and it occurs when Jesus returns to earth for His second/final appearance.

The hour is coming in which Jesus gathers all people for the final judgment of all the good people and of all the evil people. One hour only is coming for the judgment of both the good people/sheep and the evil people/goats. There are not two separate judgments for the righteous and the unrighteous.

No. If you would like to see that Scripturally, please begin with me in the other thread already made to discuss it [as even the text you cited, Hebrews 9:27 KJB, - "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:", refutes the erroneous idea of a "one general judgment ... all people together...", for read prayerfully and carefully and we shall see]:

http://www.christianforums.com/thre...nement-and-judgment-now-taking-place.7914415/

There are materials therein already posted, but if you refuse to consider them, I will, by the grace of God, show you manually from the scriptures [KJB], line upon line.

I've considered them, but your understanding of the Scriptures is not the same as my understanding of the Scriptures. :)

No, for read:

1 Peter 5:8 KJV - Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

There are more than just one devil. All fallen angels are demons/devils/evil spirits. Satan is the head of all the other devils. All devils/demons/evil spirits are adversaries of humans. http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/04764a.htm

Revelation 12:13 KJV - And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man [child].

This was part of the history recorded by John. Jesus states that He saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven and so this happened before Jesus' death on the cross. Luke 10:18

Satan was cast to the earth even before Adam was created. Satan was in the garden of Eden with Adam and Eve and that is where he tempted Eve.

Daniel 7:21 KJV - I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;

Revelation 13:7 KJV - And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

Revelation 12:17 KJV - And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Revelation 12, and also Revelation 13 through Revelation 19 were fulfilled 1900+ years ago with the climax being the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D.

Satan is in charge of all the evil spirits. He can command them to do whatever he wills. He can do this from from anywhere he happens to be. Satan persecutes the Church through his minions and he will most certainly personally persecute them when he receives his full power back. Perhaps his full power has already been restored to him and so the Antichrist will be here soon.

We are presently living in the time period of Revelation 20:1-6.

Revelation 1 through Revelation 19 are past history to us, but Revelation 6 through Revelation 19 contained prophecies for the early Christians to warn them about the persecutions they would have to face and of God's coming wrath upon Jerusalem, its temple, and its ungodly people. Jerusalem the harlot of Babylon was destroyed by Rome the beast in 70 A.D. after a 3 1/2 year [42 months; a time and times and half a time] siege.

All the Christians escaped from Jerusalem when they saw that the Roman armies were encamping around Jerusalem, where these armies should not be. No Christians were killed when the harlot of Babylon [Jerusalem] was destroyed. The early Christians understood Jesus' prophecies in Mark 13:14 and Luke 21:20 and so John's prophecies in Revelation 6-19 warned them that it was now time for Jesus' prophecies to be fulfilled and so the early Christians knew that it was time to leave Jerusalem in order to avoid being destroyed along with it.

The thousand years is symbolic for a long time period. This thousand years reign of Jesus Christ in heaven with His saints began when Jesus ascended into heaven 2000 years ago and this reign will continue until the defeat of the Antichrist.

2 Thessalonians 2:1-4
Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, 2 not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. 3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

2 Thessalonians 2:8

And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.

We call this man of sin [lawless one] the Antichrist. The Antichrist must come and he will be defeated at the same time that Jesus Christ returns to earth to gather His people to Himself. Jesus will destroy the Antichrist with the glory of His coming/second appearance. The Antichrist will be destroyed by Jesus' command [the breath of His mouth].

That is true - it is after the 1000 years. Prior to that when He comes physically to earth the saints are "caught up in the air" to meet him - 1Thess 4 and it is then that He takes the saints "to His Father's house" John 14:1-3 to fulfill that promise made. So at the 2nd coming He does not actually touch earth - but rather He does the Rev 19 thing of destroying the wicked and the 1Thess 4 thing of taking all the saints up to heaven.

It is my understanding that the saints are not caught up in the air to meet Jesus until after the falling away and the man of sin/Antichrist/lawless one is revealed on earth.

I will repeat what I wrote for Acts24Fourteen in case you didn't read what I wrote in that post plus I will add a bit more:

Timothy was a Jew -- he had a Jewish mother. However, his father was Greek, and Greeks were notoriously against circumcision.

It is my understanding that according to the Law it was impossible for Timothy to claim to be a Jew and this is because he had not been circumcised. Ritual circumcision was necessary for a male person to become a Jew.

"The commandment is binding upon both the father of the child and the child himself. If a father does not have his son circumcised, the son is obligated to have himself circumcised as soon as he becomes an adult. A person who is uncircumcised suffers the penalty of kareit, spiritual excision; in other words, regardless of how good a Jew he is in all other ways, a man has no place in the World to Come if he is uncircumcised." http://www.jewfaq.org/birth.htm

The thousand years is symbolic for a long time period.

On the contrary -- it is 1000 years.

This thousand years reign of Jesus Christ in heaven with His saints

Will happen at the 2nd coming.

began when Jesus ascended into heaven 2000 years ago

On the contrary Christ told those alive 2000 years ago "If I go away I WILL come AGAIN " -- 2nd coming.

And Peter said - many years AFTER the cross "13 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; " 1 Peter 1:13

That event - still FUTURE to the time of Peter's writing!

Future to 2Thess 2:1-4

Jesus will not gather His saints together with Him in the air until the time of His second/final appearing which will not occur until the end of time. Jesus will return to earth and gather His followers to Himself when it is time for the white throne judgment/sheep and goats judgment/etc

And apparently we both agree on that last part.

in Christ,

Bob

He was a Jew by parentage because his mother was a Jew - but he could not enter the temple or have the right of a Jew without being circumcised.

Those sitting in the pews of any denomination need to know the history of their body.

Agreed.

The history of the SDA should be an open book to all of those both inside and outside the movement.

Agreed.

So in my opinion - that was a truly great post on your part.

I thank you for sharing it.

in Christ,

Sure. But where does this say he is not a Jew?

Where do you find this in the Bible?
This is what the Sovereign LORD says: No foreigner uncircumcised in heart and flesh is to enter my sanctuary, not even the foreigners who live among the Israelites.
Ezekiel 44:9

Where do I find that Timothy's mother was a Jew? or that non-circumcised Jews could not enter the temple Ezekiel 44:9 - or that Jews used a matrilineal system at the time of Christ for determining nationality?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matrilineality_in_Judaism
The Mishnah (Kiddushin 3:12) states that, to be a Jew, one must be either the child of a Jewish mother or a convert to Judaism,
Paul came to Derbe and then to Lystra, where a disciple named Timothy lived, whose mother was Jewish and a believer but whose father was a Greek. Acts 16:1

This is what the Sovereign LORD says: No foreigner uncircumcised in heart and flesh is to enter my sanctuary, not even the foreigners who live among the Israelites. Ezekiel 44:9
This verse assumes that all Jews are circumcised. For a foreigner to become circumcised it means he has converted and become a son of Israel, taking upon him the covenant. A Jew who is not circumcised has not taken on the covenant. It is obvious from this verse that only those who have taken on the covenant are allowed into the temple.

The definition of a Jew being determined by matrilineal descent or conversion was a ruling by the sanhedron (the seventy elders). The authority of the levites and judges to pass these decision is from Deuteronomy 17:

8 If cases come before your courts that are too difficult for you to judge--whether bloodshed, lawsuits or assaults--take them to the place the LORD your God will choose.
9 Go to the priests, who are Levites, and to the judge who is in office at that time. Inquire of them and they will give you the verdict.
10 You must act according to the decisions they give you at the place the LORD will choose. Be careful to do everything they direct you to do.
11 Act according to the law they teach you and the decisions they give you. Do not turn aside from what they tell you, to the right or to the left.
12 The man who shows contempt for the judge or for the priest who stands ministering there to the LORD your God must be put to death. You must purge the evil from Israel.
13 All the people will hear and be afraid, and will not be contemptuous again.
