  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If you cannot believe the genesis account....

sure i can answer.........but tell me, do you see the point in taking the time to try to explain 20 years of study on all this stuff just to have you NOT see it?

sorry, not interested in bothering with it

Most I would even offer is a list of passages for you all to look over........i WONT try to help anyone draw conclusions tho.......thats not my responsiblity..
I have been studying science for far more than 20 years so after this I guess I'll just say that science supports evolution and falsifies young earth and the worldwide flood and that I don't see the point in taking the time to try explain 40 years of study on all this stuff just to have you NOT see it.
Since you're too lazy to study it yourself and understand that's not my problem.

If due to inflation you think it is only worth 1.5 cents, then so be it.
Just kidding around John... silly cheap shot. Actually, I try to converse with birds myself. I always wonder if I sound like a mentally retarded bird with a speech impediment to them. Unfortunately, I probably don't even sound that good from their perspective.

I take it literally that the snake spoke.........and also literally that Satan is called the ''old Serpent''

like i said........study it yourself.........
But Satan is not mentioned in Genesis and Satan is first mentioned by later Bible authors, first in Job, IIRC, and not specifically identified with the serpent until Revelations IIRC, so now you are putting your interpretation on top of their interpretation to identify the serpent as being controlled by Satan when it supposedly spoke.

Now how about telling us how there were morning and night in the days before the sun was created? Last I remember you were still dodging that one. Or am I supposed to read the Bible for another 20 years to try to figure that one out?

So you must also take it literally that satan crawls on the ground and eats dirt, right?

I take literally that the snake may have paid a price for Satans actions thru it....

I imagine its not fair to make a dumb animal pay then is it?... But then I look to;

He told the Man: "Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree That I commanded you not to eat from, 'Don't eat from this tree,' The very ground is cursed because of you; getting food from the ground Will be as painful as having babies is for your wife; you'll be working in pain all your life long.
(Gen 3:17)

If God cursed the very ground over Adams sin, It doesnt conflict at all that He may have cursed the animal over Satans sin......

Bandersnatch--The person who inspired Revelation is the same person who inspired Genesis 1-3. They are in agreement. Moreover, it is quite obvious that Christ did crush Satan's head, and that Satan did strike his heel. Therefore, this passage is referring to Christ as the woman's seed, and to Satan as the serpent. (It makes sense to me, at least . . .)

OK. But I still say this is your intepretation of the text. I think most people agree that there is quite a bit of symbolism in Revelations.

Now let's go back to Genesis 1. How were there mornings and evenings in the days before the sun was created?

fine then........
Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. .....
Gen 1:3 And God said, Let there be light. And there was light.

this light wouldnt have been the sun yet as it wasnt created til the 4th day........

Is there anywhere scripture we can turn to ?

As it was in the beginning (light without the sun), so it shall be in the end.....

And there will be no night there. And they need no lamp, or light of the sun; for the Lord God gives them light. And they will reign forever and ever.
(Rev 22:5)

the Lord God would have given the light in the begining...

He willed light into existance then and said it was good........3 days later He willed the sun into existance........

Now for the ''but, but, but...."

YOu can complain all you want, but the text shows God is able to provide the light and Genesis 1 shows that there was indeed light without a sun for the first 3 days......

So there was light. Starlight maybe? How was there morning and evening? Aren't they pretty much defined by the sun?

Thats all good and well, IF you could show us where in genesis it says satan worked through the snake. Yet that hasn't happend, again, until that happens, you aren't really taking genesis literally.

As i said.....you all wont be able to add 2 and 2....

I see no futher point in discussing it..

There are a great many things in the text that are taken and understood AFTER studying.......something arent as clearly spelled out...

Myself, I think there is a reason for this. A reason things are so vague.
The same reason Christ spoke in parables...... can you tell me what I mean?

In other words, you can't answer the question. Yet you will continue to claim that your interpretation of the bible is a literal one. Ok. :)
