DamianWarS you make some good points.

Imho measuring using earthly standards (material things) is pretty pointless when you consider eternity in hell. Suffering is actually often a good impetus to people seeking after God.

What good is more money or more material assets (or a more comfortable life) if it leads you to hell?

Imho we should be focusing on the moral state of mankind. If we could get statistics on the numbers of people going to hell today as compared to different times in history I would bet money that today the percentages are higher than they have ever been.

If people are not converting to Christianity, if people are not putting their faith in Jesus Christ they will go to hell regardless of the standard of living they experienced.

This is what matters in judging whether we are in the End times or not.

Look also at laws and how they are being changed in opposition to the bible..... Our world is always moving towards more wicked laws, this is another reflection of the moral decline we are seeing. These days I'm not even allowed to call my child a boy or a girl in school, because of this false push to make genders equal. There is so much corruption and perversion of morality these days I dare not get started discussing it......

What do we think is the purpose of God telling the church that both Satan will be loosed, and that he will so forth to gather the nations from all over the four corners of the earth, specifically to assault the camp of saints just prior to His second coming?

Could that be Satan being the means by which God collects first the tares together in Matthew 13:30?

The entire premise of the OP is that according to virtually ALL prophecy predictors, things will get WORSE AND WORSE before the coming of Jesus. Unfortunately, things are getting better for nearly everyone on earth since at least the Enlightenment. (Now that's what you call ironic.)

You mean apart from climate change, pollution of the sea, depletion of wildlife, the highest recorded levels of STDs/Obesity/Divorce/family-breakdown, ubiquitous porn, children sexting each other, feelings taken to outweight facts (trans)....

But I expect there to be some things that at least seem better for a while because the antichrist spirit is not necessarily a ravening psychopathic lunatic but rather the desire to make heaven on earth....just without God.

Jesus said if you hear of wars or 'even' rumors of wars the time is not yet. Jesus spoke of two kinds of peace. A peace the world gives and His own. The distinction between the two is that one is the peace of enabled sin, the other of mastering sin. So the time is characterized as a world without even a rumor of war. Can't imagine. Jesus gives us this image. Right after the comparison with Noah and the flood. Noah and the flood gives us the results and a sense of the condition follows in the description below.

Luke 17;28
just as it was in the days of Lot: they were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building, 29 but on the day that Lot left Sodom, it rained fire and sulfur from heaven and destroyed all of them 30 —it will be like that on the day that the Son of Man is revealed.

So it getting better is a sign of the end of the end that Jesus described. It's humanity having it's cake and eating it too. Who needs God then?

Not hardly . only if you consider better technology , advancement in medical care , but the moral decline and the magnified intensity of criminal behavior. and all the rest of things regarding evil , ISIS , and all their types , you can choose to ignore things that you don't want to see but that does not mean they are not here

Its the world.. are you of this world or not? In NO OTHER generation has Israel was Isreal BACK in the land the great I AM GLORY TO THE FATHER in JESUS NAME!

Yes every generation before us thought THIS IS IT! Yet.. not ONE ever had Israel put BACK in the land the Father gave them. So what each of us personally believe matters not. This it.. either Yeshua the Christ was a liar and NONE of this is true. Or everything HE said was true and before He left His words not mine not mans said He will go home make us a home and come back and receive us to himself so where He is we will be.

So I don't care what any man says. That GOD that came died rose GLORY TO YOU FATHER IS in fact coming back for those that watch and are ready. I stand so strong on this because.. of all the WONDERS I have ever seen.. the main reason I can figure out is.. I just took HIM at HIS word. No matter the problem all the way to healing. I didn't follow what some group of persons said. Since I was around 15 those verse just POP OUT. So.. I just believed no matter what I see or hear or feel. I fall I miss it.. BUT HE NEVER DOES! He is FAITHFUL. Never making me feel scared worried.. always happy.. always there for me.

Man all that came before us WANTED to be here during this time. Yet so many of US dont want to be here. This is the GREATEST TIME to be alive. You have NOTHING to fear. Your FATHER for this time gave YOU promise after promise. You just take it by FAITH! So many problems in this world and YOU HAVE the answer to EVERYONE of those problems. This is just another reason we STICK together.. meet pray laugh sing.. ALL of it to HIM! Not to get what WE want but for HIM in every thought word and deed. ALWAYS thinking of others. And PRAY about EVERYTHING in your life

Pray and KNOW He is LISTENING... don't be like the man with leprosy that said I know you CAN but do you want to? OH praise GOD He left heaven for YOU HELLO? WOW .. ever have that feeling this is for someone? Then read back what you just wrote and.. WOW I REALLY like that haha.. YOUR DADDY is GOD your a CHILD OF GOD..NO ANGEL in ALL OF HEAVEN can say that. YOUR the treasure for Him...YOU! Your so beautiful and He knows every one of those of tears and HOLDS each one.

Do you think we are in the End Times?

If yes, what do you make of the following:

"...in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people." (2 Timothy 3:1-5)
I think we're in the end times. The scripture verse you gave above is what we're seeing all around us. I'm just wondering when God is going to say "enough." Isn't there a verse that says "Even now Lord come quickly..."

We have been in the end times, the last days for 2000+ years. I would get on with doing whatever God wants you to do and not be sidetracked by "exciting" predictions. Jesus is not coming in our lifetime, most likely. Best plan to live all your days as generations have done before. If He shows up, no one who did that will be sorry.

Pastor Doug Batchelor and our local pastor both said this today. The devil loves to go to church and he doesn't want you to not go, to not tithe, to not join in, because he wants you to worship him, not our Lord. I think you should avoid such people AND:
4 I charge [thee] in the sight of God, and of Christ Jesus, who shall judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: 2 preach the word; be urgent in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.

3 For the time will come when they will not endure the sound doctrine; but, having itching ears, will heap to themselves teachers after their own lusts; 4 and will turn away their ears from the truth, and turn aside unto fables.

5 But be thou sober in all things, suffer hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfil thy ministry.

So are all who lived the last 2000 years evil because they said he wasn’t coming in their lifetimes and they were right? Are you good if you say he is and he doesn’t?

All in the last (almost) 2000 years who said he would not come in their lifetimes, was sinning. Even those who said it earlier today.

They sinned by saying the truth???? But if they had lied (he didn’t come so if they said he would, that was untrue) that would have been better????

2 Peter 3:3-4
3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

The scriptures teach us to view this as a current expectation. Anyone who says it will not happen in our lifetimes is contradicting that current expectation.

That statement is the context of the statement that a day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Well yeah but not exclusively -

2 I want you to recall the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets and the command given by our Lord and Savior through your apostles.

3 Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. 4 They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.” 5 But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water. 6 By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. 7 By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.

8 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. 9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare.
