Yeah... my husband has always pointed out that for supposedly "evolved" creatures we are remarkably weak, defeatable, squishy, slow, confined to walking for normal unaided locomotion, and have no cool quills or spikes.

And yet given all that, we are still unquestionably the dominant species on the planet.

Really? At first glance, humans have many traits that aren't "human only" but are shared by non-humans.

We:
1. Breathe air
2. Have brains, hearts, lungs, skin, and many other systems
3. Have four limbs
4. Have two eyes and two ears
5. Have an internal skeletal structure
6. Have fur (some more than others)

I am sorry that your feelings got hurt, however, pain is the price we pay to live in this world. Pain is a great evolutionary tool, in fact, without pain we would have never survived as a species.

Pain tells us something is wrong. Emotional and mental pain "usually" comes from our egos and ids being hurt. One way this manifests is when we are shown or proven to be wrong about something that we felt confident we were right about. We often can't help but take it as a personal attack against us when a lot of times it is not.

One of the things you need to understand about ego and id is that they have direct lines into both our conscious self and subconscious. They can actually "blind" us to the truth or to wrongs we are doing in an effort to protect itself...

In your case, you are painfully wrong about your views on biology and evolution and genetics. Your error stems from ignorance-- that is, not knowing. However, this is easily cured. You literally have the majority of human knowledge at your fingertips. Merely google "Offspring" or "Evolution" or "Child vs parents traits" or "Parents and Child DNA" or a host of other things and you can cure your ignorance.

True, but lots of things that are true are not supported in the Bible. For example, the earth is a sphere which means that Matthew 4:8 and Luke 4:8 cannot be true without resorting to extra-Biblical reasoning.

I've been hanging around these forums for a while now and have enjoyed the various threads on the topic of creation & evolution (though they can be frustrating at times). I've enjoyed reading your posts and think you make a lot of great points - and I agree, your children do in fact have their genetic information from you and their mother. You are a human, your ancestors were human, your children are human, and future generations from them will... be human.

Though I was raised and taught in school that evolution is the process by which life came to be as it is now, I am completely convinced to the contrary that God created Adam and Eve and that Adam was created from the dust of the ground on day 6 of creation. I believe creation happened the way it is written and while I accept this view by faith, I believe there is also a lot of good supporting evidence.

The discussions in these forums can sometimes become dogmatic and discouraging, and I'm as guilty as anyone. In my research I've come across many online resources by very intelligent, highly credentials and experienced scientists whom also have a biblical creation worldview. Keep in mind that evolution is just that: it is a worldview - it is a mental framework, a paradigm or "lens" by which data is interpreted and predictions are made. Many here will call creation science a "pseudoscience" (implying it's not "real"), but the creation scientists who have advanced degrees in disciplines like biology/genetics/paleontology/geology, apply the scientific method in their research, perform rigorous testing, etc... would all beg to differ, and so would I. So, what it really boils down to is what is our source of authority? Is it God's word, or man's word? I go with God.

I've started a discussion thread where comments are welcome from any perspective, but I've really intended it to be a spot where we can add links and references to resources in support of biblical creation (specifically around the topic of evolution). Certain traits are enough, specifically, unparalleled MASTERY of certain traits are enough. Combined that with unparalleled integration of certain traits performed at a SUPERIOR level that no other animal on the planet can even get close to matching and yeah, that is "enough".
