You think this is a contradiction? Read it closely. Atheists may have systems of thought, but atheism is not a system of thought.

Is that what Jesus says when asked that question? Why just make things up instead of learning what scriptures say? Jesus said with man this is IMPOSSIBLE but with God all things are possible.
Must we believe? Yes. But our faith is a gift of God and not something we conjure up from our depraved selves.

In short:
A person who does not know Jesus, that He is the savior, will be judged by the 10 commandments (the law, Jews).
A person who knows that Jesus exists and that Sin is forgiven by His blood , which was given on the cross, and does not choose for Jesus, will be judged guilty by the fact that he/she did not choose for the solution to sin, that God has given.
Although above statements are correct, there is a but.
The but is, God is the supreme judge, He looks to all the evidence, and what you have done with you life.
So ultimately no human being like you and me can judge ourselves or others. The reason is simple: I am not the judge. God is (Jesus).
So, going back to the question of this post "If I'm an Atheist and I am not a bad person, will I go to hell?"
Answer: If you brake on of the 10 laws, you shall not steal, lie,
murder, have sex outside marriage, etc. then such is legally already
a lawbreaker. The punishment is death. What death? Hell.
Hell is eternal. There is no way back. It was ment for demons.
"Not a bad person".
This is your personal view on you. God is perfection, ultimate love,
holy, never makes a mistake. We humans do make mistakes, lie, kill,
rape, eat food more than should have, drink alcohol until we don't know what we are doing, use drugs to make our mind passive,
Comparing God with us and you see that there is indeed not much perfection left in us. God made us perfect in the first place.
But by wrong choice we made, perfection was lost.
So the statement "I am not a bad person" is a wrong conclusion about yourself. God says He looked over the whole world and could not find one good person. The reason is because we all have broken at least 1 of the 10 laws.....
Off topic: Atheist have huge faith as well.
Reason: that the living cell which is the living building block of all life is build by chance. Did you know that a living cell, contains other smaller living cells. And that a living cell works like a 4 bit
computer of the size of a advanced factory.
So a living cell is like an advanced factory with billions of smaller
advanced factories inside it. And that the blue print to create these factories, is in the DNA itself and to read the DNA you need a factory.
So you get a loop like the chicken and egg story. DNA data is worth CD's as long as from earth beyond the moon?
That monkeys by chance cannot type the exact DNA sequence by chance?

Yes, I suppose the process leading up to it is somewhat systematic, insofar as it consists of a pattern of questions. But don't confuse the process with the outcome. Atheism is not a process.
