What God (god) are you referring to?

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1). Did your god bring about heavens ? If he did, were the heavens created over time?
If God (Jesus Christ) created the heavens and the earth, it does not conflict with evolution.

"and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness" (Ephesians 4:24)

So was the new righteous man created over time? Did God have to go through a trial and error stage to figure out what a new man was, or did He already know what righteous was and create the new man instantly?
Read the passage in context, the Bible does not talk about man physically:

Ephesians 4:17
So this I say, and affirm together with the Lord, that you walk no longer just as the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind,

Ephesians 4:18
being darkened in their understanding, excluded from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart;

Ephesians 4:19
and they, having become callous, have given themselves over to sensuality for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness.

Ephesians 4:20
But you did not learn Christ in this way,

Ephesians 4:21
if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught in Him, just as truth is in Jesus,

Ephesians 4:22
that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit,

Ephesians 4:23
and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind,

Ephesians 4:24
and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.

Whichever God theistic evolutionists believe in. Here, it's usually the Christian God, but not always.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1). Did your god bring about heavens ? If he did, were the heavens created over time?
I don't have a God.

"and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness" (Ephesians 4:24)

So was the new righteous man created over time? Did God have to go through a trial and error stage to figure out what a new man was, or did He already know what righteous was and create the new man instantly?
Neither. False dichotomy. I may as well ask you if you believe that God tortures kittens or kills them outright.

I know that it wasn't refering to the physical man, but if you can't take the creation in Genesis as bam it happened, I was wondering if you believed that the spiritual creation was a bam it happened or a slow over time process.
what God did is up to God. he could have created souls as soon as a suitable host came to be, via the process of evolution which He invented.

So you were being disingenious with the Bible? That doesn't sound like a very virtuous thing to do.

but if you can't take the creation in Genesis as bam it happened, I was wondering if you believed that the spiritual creation was a bam it happened or a slow over time process.
To us, it was a slow process. But is the passage of time the same to us as it is to God?

That's a good question.

I'd like to say that I don't care what you believe, and on some level that's true.

However, I do believe that YEC is a destructive and negative meme, and in that respect I'd like to see the end of it. Western society has taken a very long time to drag itself up by the bootstraps out of the ignorance and superstition of the Dark Age, and two of the main agents of that have been Reason and Science. YEC is the rejection of both, and I suppose I'm affronted by that.

The little icon in the top left corner of the screen says that you are a Atheist. So you must believe that there is no God. I am asuming that you do not believe in an afterlife, and if there is no afterlife what point is there is living? To further the species? If you don't exist after your dead then why do you need to really exist in the first place?

You need to be asking these questions in the General Apologetics forum. This one is for science, and these questions are beyond the ken of scientific enquiry.

Your beliefs are your beliefs. I cannot change them. But it matters to me when you confuse evolution with atheism and reject it because of a misinterpretation of Genesis. I do not like to see other people ignorant of knowledge of the world we live on.

If there is no God and no afterlife all we do in the end is die, and so all of our knowledge and ignorance with us.
Unfortunately, the ignorance bit is spread out to the next generation by creationists during their lives. It is a self-perpetuating ignorance.

See above. This question is for Apologetics, and not science.

That's a good question. In my opinion, nothing lasts forever. But it is always better that the next generation grows up in full knowledge of the world than in ignorance of it. If humanity were to end, I would prefer humanity face its final days as learned scholars than as ignorant barbarians.

Well, I have a belief that there probably isn't a God. But it wasn't always that way. I was a Christian for the first 20 years of my life.

I am asuming that you do not believe in an afterlife, and if there is no afterlife what point is there is living?[/qote]Living for its own sake and living for the sake of others. I am not an island.

If you don't exist after your dead then why do you need to really exist in the first place?
Because existence is good, and there is purpose to life even if there is no afterlife.

because it is our nature, just like bacteria on a petri dish will reproduce even though their ultimate fate is to be sterilised and killed.

Because that knowledge is useful right now. Even if we set aside the nobility of the pursuit of truth and all that jazz, science improves our quality of life. The study of evolution, for example, has resulted in new medicines and new engineering techniques in addition to all sorts of information about the history of life on Earth.

Can you say the same for creation "science"?
