• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hi everyone, I was wondering how you deal with the mistakes OCD in your life? I am fighting that self condemnation of the results of my choices influenced by OCD- things that impacted my daughter terribly- and choices that I made to turn away from the Lord, now that I have come back to the Lord I see a trail of brokeness - do you all have suggestions?

Hi everyone, I was wondering how you deal with the mistakes OCD in your life?

Mistakes as in like blaspheming? might have to be a bit more specific..i also tend to be a bit "slow" lol

Ocd is going to always make you feel condemned and feel unforgiven. you may have turned away before but the important thing is God brought you back, just need to repent and ask God to help you forgive yourself, perhaps youre sitting on some guilt. Ask God to renew youre mind and get into His word. We all make bad choices, Thanks be to Gods love and Grace.

Be Blessed

Wow, my internet is behaving itself- to answer your questions on being specific, my walk with the Lord has been up and down, church hopping, eventually getting involved in new age stuff, this was when my daughter was in her early teens- eventually she was molested by some of our 'aquaintences' in those circles, which had real bad circumstances- and guilt on my part, then from their getting involved in some very legalistic churches- knowing something wasn't right theologically- but being too confused to do anything about it- anyway... thats where I am at now, praying for healing in all the areas affected....

Hey

Thanks for clearing that up a bit :p

If i were you stay away from New agers and legalstic churches (I have a few things id like to say to them, trust me..:( )

Im sorry to hear about youre daughter, I will be praying for both of youre healing, keep the faith and know that He is with you.

While some may disagree, instead of worrying about church right now seeing as youre having some problems, get close to God and ask Him to guide you to one. fellowship is important and im seeing that now more than ever, but we want to make sure our Father puts us in the place He wants as He knows best

many Blessings to you and youre family

Yes, i see what you mean, slow down and just fall in love with the Lord again- its just so frustrating! But, I can't change it- that verse in Romans comes to mine, about all things working together- the Lord can untangle everything... and Romans 8.1 for me is critical...:)

Yes dear sister slow down :)

And dont worry about tomorow and the next day and so forth but concentrate one day at a time. I never realized on how important this verse was to me..

mttw 6-34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Take youre frustrations to the Lord dont change it just roll it up in a ball and hand it to God :p

(1 Peter 5:7) Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.

He wants to provide for you, and take care of His children. Its great isnt it? :)

Romans 8.1 is a good verse I like to throw that at satan more times than I can remember..

That is a great way of imagining it- I remember a song by Chuck Girrard- Lay Your Burden Down, same thing- to give it to the Lord over and over-

Been hard to get the board to load lately, keep having to hit refresh, so I'm not ignoring you!:)

I think sometimes OCD does cause us to make some decisions we later regret. I know I have. I think all we can do is take it to the Lord, believing that He is able to redeem even our mistakes.

After that, it's tough but we need to forgive ourselves and realize that we were probably walking in all the understanding that we had at the time.

Even people who do not struggle with OCD often make serious mistakes in life. And most all of us have our regrets as life goes on. (You will notice I am 52.) None of us have chosen perfectly, OCD or no. It's a cliche, but we can only learn from the past and proceed accordingly with the Lord's help, ya know?

Hugs and prayers~~ :prayer:

Thanks Kaykay- yes, I sometimes think one of the hardest things is to leave it in the Lords hands and focus on today.... the other thought to is maybe age related? What if syndrome- what if i did this instead of that thinking... so appreciated this board!
