Things about the woman simply irk me. She has a mega-church headed by Eckhart Tolle, who are heading a movement called "New Earth". She says that Jesus is not the *only* Way.

Her new endeavor is her cable network called "OWN"- that in and of itself is unsettling. Most people, including myself, would almost venture to think that she *definitely* has traits similar to those we'll find in the Anti-christ.

The link below is a discussion of Oprah's terrifying fallacies of character and thought about Christianity and Christ by Pastor Larry Phillips from a few years ago. I wish more "uber-O fanatics" would listen to Mr. Phillips' message, perhaps they'd think twice about liking her.

Oprah is more about spirituality than christianity. I watched one episode where she explained how she didn't get how 'God was a jealous God and how God was jealous of HER'. She did not seem to grasp that God was not jealous of her and her lifestyle but jealous of the things she idolized before him. I've also noticed it's hard for her to accept another person's point of veiw if it doe's not align with her own, she will bully her guest's into agreeing with her. Her popularity and power has gone to her head. It's sad.

As a person she is nice and a sinner like the rest of us, however her faith does not seem to accept that she is a sinner. Plus from watching one of the interviews the cult she follows tend to believe they are the "Gods"

God is a Jealous God this is quoted many times through the scriptures and has every reason to be. There is only one God and only one way there, Oprah needs to recognise this. John 14:6

We are not "God" we are sinners redeamed for his purpose, she has blended Eastern Religion with Christianity a friend of mine claims to be a "Bhudist Christian" sorry to say they missed the boat

1Ti 6:3 If someone spreads false teachings and does not agree with sound words (that is, those of our Lord Jesus Christ) and with the teaching that accords with godliness,
1Ti 6:4 he is conceited and understands nothing, but has an unhealthy interest in controversies and verbal disputes. This gives rise to envy, dissension, slanders, evil suspicions,
1Ti 6:5 and constant bickering by people corrupted in their minds and deprived of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a way of making a profit.

Yes, quite right. Even more so, she's about humanism, not about God. What she equates to spirituality has nothing to do with the Holy Spirit.

I watched one episode where she explained how she didn't get how 'God was a jealous God and how God was jealous of HER'. She did not seem to grasp that God was not jealous of her and her lifestyle but jealous of the things she idolized before him. Yes, I saw that show as well about her rejection of God being a jealous God. Very sad. And I think it's more like an excuse to continue in her own ways. Just like any unsaved person, and just like all of us before we were saved. I've seen her bully guests as well a number of times when they don't agree with her opinions. She's lost touch with reality in some ways, which is probably kinda normal considering the degree of popularity and money she's gained. That would be hard for anyone to handle well. I used to watch her show occasionally when I was interested in the subject, especially the Christmas ones where she gave all kinds of stuff away to the audience. I haven't had any desire to watch her for a number of years now. I can pray for her though. :)

I see what Opera is doing. She doesn't feel at peace with God being jealous and she's trying to believe in God without his jealousy. But the problem with what's she's doing is that she misunderstood him. God is jealous because he loves us so deeply he isn't shallow at all. Anyone who doesn't care if the person loves him/her is shallow 'cold heart' 'don't care at all'

I have a lot of problems with Oprah. I'm not sure why you would feel obligated to like her. The thought of a whole nation of women looking up to one public figure for advice, even telling them what books to read, is rather frightening.

You should see her audience. They look like mindless drones to her every whim. Sort of a preview of what the anti Christ is going to do.

She has definitely accomplished some good things, such as helping starving children, but she certainly doesn't represent Christianity with her ideals and wealth and she doesn't claim to. I don't hate the woman, but I'm not really a fan and I don't emulate her - I have only seen a few episodes of her show (during this recent going back to the best episodes thing) and I was introduced to Unbearable Lightness, which was a pretty good book - but still, I second what someone else here said - her power has gotten kind of out of control. Yes, it's quite ironic that her network is called OWN.

SHE WANTS TO OWN US! le gasp!
